What sh!ted me about Narellan they didn't even test drive it to see that there was a problem.

Where did u get the idea that warranty include the alignment for 12 months? My understanding is first alignment is free, once it's fixed, any subsequent ones are chargeable, unless covered by TSB.

Test drive: shall be done by the book, but in reality which dealer keeps 'the book'???? Sorry to be sarcastic.

I had mine done around 2000km (2 months before the release of TSB) for the same symptom mentioned in the TSB. After 5000km, front tyres were completely goner, no tread left (I've posted this problem in different thread). The dealer/Jeep simply couldn't find any mechanical fault causing the problem (5 months gone by, and they still have the case open, probably becomes a cold case). For safety of my family, I have had tyres replaced and alignment done/road tested at local Bob at my own expense, rather than argy bargy with the dealer and Chrysler. Deep down and in hindsight, I believe the mechanic ****ed up the alignment as when I dropped off the car for the alignment back then, the suspension was at entry/exit mode; and the mechanic probably did the alignment at that height. I've told the dealer my belief, and u can guess what his response was....

The moral lesson of choosing/dealing with a dealer is CHOOSE THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS. Don't expect to choose the best, it's a wishful thinking. Car sales persons and mechanics are right on the top of the list in terms of the least trust worthy "professionals", they earn that spots for reasons.

Re: Jeep service costs

30,000km service today - Macarthur Jeep (Narallen)

Actual - 30,843kms/Oil Life - 49%

Standard service per the book:

- Oil
- Oil Filter
- Air Conditioning Filter/Air Cleaner Element

Outside of the book:

- Upgrade to V14.22.13 Uconnect
because I was slack and although downloaded to my desktop, it didn't quite make it to the USB and subsequently to the vehicle.

- P14 Recall - Brake Booster done. Didn't expect that. I thought that parts hadn't arrived in Aust yet so didn't mention it coupled with the fact that I haven't received a recall letter from CJD Aust yet re: P14.
Fixed now though

Cost: $410.00

plus a loan vehicle (as usual). Still very happy with Mac Jeep.

Additional:

Need new tyres. Knew that. Thinking Bridgestone but not off-road as such - need to do a little but just a good all-round Bridgestone overall. We have Hankooks on WK and they have been excellent so perhaps even Hankooks but open to suggestions. Thoughts?
(Budget not an issue if that makes a difference to your thoughts - just want a decent set of tyres that will be fine on reasonably slippery inclines ie: long grass/mud at times - depends on the weather, whilst still minimising the road noise of semi-rural roads plus about 30% highway driving.)

Re: Jeep service costs

You need them magic tyres. They have extra grip available on demand yet are still quiet on the highway.

Cheeky one.

I don't know. Isn't there something that does a bit of everything? OK - will forgo a bit of road noise for extra grip on the acreage.

Re: Jeep service costs

Sure. Head over to the Off-Road 18"s thread (or the AT's one) for discussion, but I reckon Bridgestone's offerings could be right for you.

Cheers,
Steve

Actually don't worry. Wrong thread for the discussion. I'll go searching tomorrow.

Re: Jeep service costs

I'd always get an LT carcass... so that's the first thing that you may choose to disagree with me on for your application! ;-) To me they're simply a better proposition as soon as you leave town, even if it's just some crappy potholed bitumen or eroded road shoulders that you experience. Flats are no fun, and rapid deflation can turn nasty. Downside to LTs is they hit a little harder... you might notice road irregularities a bit more. I don't really find it significantly different, though my road rubber are on 20"s so there's two factors at play when I swap to my LTs.

https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/dueler-at-d697

These will offer improved grip over factory supply. There shouldn't be enough noise increase to warrant much comment.

Even mine below are none too offensive, especially above 80km/h or so. The car is pretty good at keeping the noise down internally.

It's hard to recommend tyres. I've tried hard to put myself in your shoes when suggesting the Brigdies. However there are loads of alternatives...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Jeep service costs

I agree with Steve. However, in Bridgestone I would get straight Duelers rather than the "Desert" Duelers. Desert Duelers sound cool but seem to be their budget range. My son did not have a good experience with them on his GQ Patrol.

Is the V14.22.13 Uconnect firmware available on the internet somewhere?

Re: Jeep service costs

I'm presently traveling. My MY2014 Laredo CRD will be due for the 30000km service when I am located at Port Hedland. As the is no dealer in that area, can someone suggest where the service could be done. I am carrying the Mopar filters, and oil needed.

Under the car and under the bonnet... seriously! Read Enforcer's oil change guide.
