What's wrong with getting the mechanical stuff done at a real mechanic and flash updates done & warranty work done at the dealer??

My work uses and independent mechanic for new cars and they identify problems under warranty and we then send the car to the dealer to fix at no cost.

Flash updates are listed TSB's which are 'reimbursable under the provisions of the warranty'.

Dropping mine off to DVG Maddington tomorrow now it has finally done 1000kmk's for its complementary check up.

After that I will be seriously looking at one of the Jeep workshops up in Wangarra for all the other servicing (SBR, Jeepkraft or Cruisin On)

I hear nothing but bad things regarding our dealer's hear in Perth, but hear nothing but praise reagrding the 3 private workshops in Wangarra that specialize in Jeeps

Jeepkraft even state on their website that they have the "wiTECH diagnostic system" which is meant to give them "full dealer level functionality. This includes the Chrysler bulletin, recall and ECU Flash Update system"
So if they can provide all the updates ect I will happily try them out even if they are a complete pain for me to get to
I got a quote from Jeepkraft a month or so ago and he said a minor service was $397.

A little better than Jeep Stealership but I still thought it was excessive...

Is that price inclusive of everything or were you going to supply your own oil?

I still think that I would be happier dealing with someone like Jeepkraft that relies on customer service for return business and recommendations compared to the stealerships that rely on people returning their purchased vehicles to them because they are worried about voiding the warranty?

Unfortunately a quick read on the internet will reveal that there is no real specialized expertise at the Dealers
Anything out of the ordinary seems to gets you the normal comments of "Thats Normal" or "we have put a technical query into Jeep and are awaiting their response"

Re: Jeep service costs

For that price, they supply everything, including oil and oil filter.

Re: Jeep service costs

for Southport Jeep. In today for a minor warranty repair. They also recomended this morning that they completed the two outstanding recalls (brake & sun visor) rather than any delay until the next service. They gave me a new Cherokee for the day. My car was returned this afternoon fixed, washed, tyres blackened and inside vacuumed.

Worth a mention. Great team at Southport!!

Re: Jeep service costs

I tow a 3T van and the temp gauge barely moves above normal after climbing Mt Ousley, which is a good climb.
I would suggest you have a mechanical issue. Sticking thermostat perhaps?
