Re: Jeep service costs

So lets just say I've been given the opportunity to have an extended, overnight test drive of a Mango Tango KL Cherokee Sport.

My GC was due to be finished at 11am after dropping it off at 7.30am. There was another grey GC also booked in - due at 5.30pm. Yep - they did the other one first and not mine.

My suspicion was raised as the oil change due warning had not been reset and the service sticker had not been changed.

Anyway, I could not hang around for a few more hours so I've got a loaner Cherokee overnight and the dealer is going to deliver my car back to me tomorrow - I'm an hour away from Narellan so it is good of them to do this so I am not inconvenienced.

I went back to Narellan after all the recent drama at Castle Hill. I'm starting to think my Jeep hates me....

Anyway Natasha was really good about it and didn't hesitate to sort things out for me. Mistakes happen - its how you recover that counts.

So today I've driven a black Cherokee with big bright signwriting and a Mango Tango - talk about feeling self conscious.

Oh - the fuel door release button is on the drivers door on this Cherokee. The usual Jeep lucky dip I guess. Along the freeway the Cherokee is very quiet, but seems to hold a higher gear than I'd like for too long rather than changing down. And the reverse camera is crap.

Re: Jeep service costs

Not the desired outcome from a service GMWK2 but glad that Narellan sorted you out without additional inconvenience.

Re: the camera. It is not standard on the Sport and is dealer fitted so I can understand the crapness factor. The camera on our KL Limited is excellent - as good if not better than the WK2.

It is very quiet isn't it.

Anyway, off topic about Jeep Service Costs but interesting to hear a WK2 owner's thoughts though on the KL (even though it's the Sport variant and lacks what is standard on the higher variants).

Hope the WK2 is delivered all schmick to you tomorrow.

ETA: It's for sale by the way, so don't fang it.

Re: Jeep service costs

Just had the 10k service completed. Uconnect update, oil and oil filter change and general tyre kicking. All up, $460.86.... however I queried when they asked me to pay as I am novating the car. Sorry, will redo the invoice as there is a "fleet" price. Total cost to me as a fleet customer, $321.16!. So there you have it!

What you are saying is that the mug customers prices was $460.86 but the same service for the lease company was only $321.16
Now thats a reduction of $139.70
Pure rip off
I bet the ACCC won't care or do anything about it.

What I found stunning was when comparing the breakdown on both invoices, the private price for the oil was $137.76 compared to the fleet discounted price of $68.88. I saved approx $30 on labour and wasn't charged for some minor bits and pieces. Just goes to show where their markup lies!

Re: Jeep service costs

Because the lease company has secured years of servicing your cars. Proof here is everyone is trying to save a dollar shopping around. The dealer has a guaranteed supply of work.

Yes correct, I have leased a few cars for many years and both forms of purchase (private v lease) have their pros & cons. In my opinion it depends upon your personal situation. I must admit though, that I really liked not paying "cash" for Servicing. Just sign a form after a Car Service and away you go :-)

Oh and GMWK2, please don't judge your KL Cherokee experience upon the entry level KL Cherokee Sport version. The KL Limited and Trailhawk versions are a massive leap above. Brilliant vehicles with brilliant features :-)

Must admit, on two occasions when the GC has been in with the dealer and I've been given a courtesy car, it has been the KL Sport and I have been underwhelmed. Haven't looked at the Limited or Trailhawk.

Re: Jeep service costs

Better than the shitty Fiat Panda's I keep getting. I would rather have a 1986 Ford Laser than that rubbish. I have worked out that the only decent cars Fiat/Chrysler make (that we get) is the JGC and the 300C, the rest are rubbish.

Even worse when taking it off road. Had a hell of a time trying to brace myself when getting thrown around off-road. The damn foot hand brake kept getting in the way. Wish they would ditch that.
