Today my FIL went and looked at a 16 year old Forester for my son. A Jeep, an Alfa and an old Subaru. God help me.
Really? re: the Subaru that is. Daughter has had enough of the VW Golf TDI - it's currently in the shop with EGR issues and she's sick of it - this is just the icing on the cake after numerous other issues and she wants to flick it now.

She rang yesterday and said she wants a Forester - looking at 2006-2009 models. Anything we should be aware of?

Sorry to go off topic but would appreciate any advice regards the Forester's GMWK2.

ETA: GMWK2 - We know nothing about Subaru's so if there is anything that you think we should be aware of when looking, could you PM me. Should keep non-Jeep stuff out of this thread. Thanks.

This is just hearsay but I understand Subies have a low resale value due to the high cost of repairs. My son has an Outback bought new a couple of years ago. So far, no issues, fingers crossed.

Cheapest shown for mine was $120 more than the dealer - so maybe not.

Wonder where they get the data - maybe the Obeids are behind it.

The Jeep has two banks of cylinders but I suspect one casting to cover both. It is moot pointy if this can be called two cylinder heads or one.

Sorry not the point I was making!! More to do with low and falling resale value of our beloved jeeps.

Re: Jeep service costs

40,000 service done today by Narellan.

Service per the schedule as well as:

- Uconnect went up to V14.25.05 (because I was slack and didn't do it)
- P36 Sunvisor recall done
- TSB 18-019-14 Rev. A (This potentially could fix the DPF issue - refer to DPF issue thread)

Total: $850 (Am happy with that)

Re: Jeep service costs

I know you are happy with Narrellan but that seems a lot - I had my 40k done there 12 months ago and I don't remember it being that much - ill check and report back...
