I had one issue to take out Pajero off the road, and MMA airfreighted the part out after calling all Aus dealers for it, and car was back on the road 2 or 3 days after it stopped.

I looked at the Pajero prior to buying the GC, however my understanding was they weren't doing a full over haul in the near future. Facelift only, same tired old model.

Jeep service costs

If it towed 3000kg (with 300kg towball) I'd be driving one. 5 yrs warranty. Great service and parts backup. Established credibility for sorting problems out openly.
Jeep Australia - how about a post of what you do and don't know about the DPF issue.

The replacement (not facelift) date keeps getting shifted, it was going to be 2015, then 16, last I read was early 2017. It is basically the same car they launched in 1999, the claim about 4th gen in 2006 is crap, that was simply a more major facelift, similar for the GCs MY14 change.
That is what stuck out to us, we had a 2005 Exceed petrol, we jumped into a new 2013 Exceed diesel, and apart form the CRD vs our petrol, bluetooth and an Apple 30 pin cable it was really the same as our existing car.

This was Castle Hill, the same dealership that also has Jeep. I didn't even bother to walk the extra 10m to look at the GCs as I had written Jeep off due to all the old crap problems they had.

They will be looking at what sells and offer a good competitor, rumours are that it will have some kind of hybrid setup.

Re: Jeep service costs

I am still banging my head against the JeepAU wall with my TPMS problem.
The dealer has had 5 chances to fix the problem and even though I have a case with Jeep AU they do nothing. I am another owner who is getting very sick of micro-managing the muppets at the service department and Jeep customer dis-service to try to get some solution to this problem.
They just keep wanting me to "book it in" to have them look at it. I have told them I will not be booking the car in until I have a clear action plan, with either replacement of parts, some form of update or a new car. They seem to think that we are able to bring the car in and be without one for a day at anytime they want.
I used to think that Ford service were average, but Jeep make them look like a Rolls Royce service department.

Still love my car, but in 3 years when I replace it, Jeep will not be on the list of makers, unless they pull their finger out and start listening to what owners want in this marketplace.

Fixed price servicing
Parts availability
Better overall Service from Dealers and Jeep AU

Just had the 60K service at Berwick CJD $510 after getting four other quotes upto $598 depends on how they book out Oil's as bulk or parts

worth checking dealers before hand.

also told me i needed full fron and rear brake change as under spec?
Quote $3500 front & Rear Disc and pads.

previos day i had brakes checked and only 1mm wear on Front and rears ok

CJD maximum wear on disc Rotors is 2mm?

Re: Jeep service costs

Probably not the correct thread, but just to add to my previous post....

Doing the rounds considering a replacement for my now 3 and a bit year old GC.

Went to my local ford dealer last weekend to enquire about Everest - they committed to email some info about placing a pre order ( similar to what they are doing with Mustang). A week later - nothing.

Dropped into Land Rover yesterday to look at a Disco, helpful friendly profession sales dude in a tie, clearly knows his product and off road driving issues. Said he would email me a spec sheet - received at 5.15pm yesterday arvo. Top marks.

Also went up to the Jeep dealer - no sales people to be seen, so we left.

Disco is firming....

The LR5 is supposedly getting released this year, haven't seen much on it though. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much more for the current disco, for not much more car.

The Everest will be more truck based than the Jeep, and the motor not as good. I've also been seeing the ford ute version really struggle on some 4wd shows. 4WD pro tips and creek to coast both had these things on rugged tracks struggling to hold lock on the rear diff. The explanation on creek to coast was that the rear diff disengages at a certain speed, which is bad since you will likely be trying to hold momentum up a hill etc.

Re: Jeep service costs

I had a Disco 4 for 3 years prior to buying a WH, then the WK2 Grand Cherokee.
Still on the Disco forum.
Believe me, the Disco's have a similar amount of problems as the Jeep. Mine had a continuous surging problem that no dealership / mechanic could fix........hence why it went.
I like the VM Motori engine better than the Disco's.

There's my 2c worth.......

BTW: You have to somehow justify the extra $30K for the same spec vehicle.

Cheers, Craig

Re: Jeep service costs

First - sorry for my high-jacking the thread!

Quote:

My brother is onto his 2nd Disco. I'm aware they are not perfect. We swap war stories. His 1st one had electric seats with a mind of their own, which was never fixed by the dealer till the day he got rid of it. Drove him bonkers. He has now done about 15,000k on his new one and it seems to be a lot better than the last one.

Quote:

Agree - if it is really is just going to be fitted with the Ranger engine, that is going to be a big step down from the GC.

I once waited 12 weeks for delivery of a Ford Futura company car. It had to be towed out of my driveway twice in the first couple of weeks and spent the first 2 months spread all over the dealers workshop in a million pieces as they tried to find a fault in the wiring loom - pretty much the whole interior was stripped out. It is the only Ford I have ever owned, so I'm no particular fan of the blue oval.

Quote:

Yep - I've heard that too but it does not seem to be anywhere on the horizon at the moment. Seems there has been a lot of resistance to the concept design - too close to a RR Sport and not having the same load space that the Disco is famous for. So I understand it is still a fair time off - back to the drawing board.

Quote:

Agree again. Going through the Disco spec today - where are the heated seats, folding mirrors etc etc???

But the Disco has load capacity going for it. We have struggled a little as a family with the load size of the GC, which is tiny in the back compared to the Disco (and my old Challenger).

Anyway - no more from me about other cars on a Jeep forum.
