Re: Jeep service costs

I went (or at least my wife) to Melville DVG and was really disappointed by their service. Firstly there is the stupid cost of $530 - but it seems they all charge that. Then they didn't know anything about the sand driving fix, then they were late with when they fixed it - they told my wife 3pm and she came back and it wasn't finished and was told to wait for what was an hour - meanwhile she had left our 3mths son and was due to feed, so he was going crazy. Then they couldn't say what software updates, and other service items they had actually performed, so I don't know if they did the sand driving fix. Plus trying to book with them took for ever and trying to complain has also been met with missed calls. I would have thought that for $530, for what is effectively an oil change and a rubber stamp the car would be given a clean, but nope.

Exactly the poor kind of service that has people think that a 10 year old designed Prado is a better car to buy.

If they had tried to charge me $530 and could not tell me or show me a printed copy of what they had done they would not of received a single dollar

Re: Jeep service costs

Had my 40k service yesterday at Albion Jeep
Engine Oil by me (Mobil 1 ESP) $137.00
All Filters by Me (Mopar from Just for Jeeps) $320.00 delivered
Albion Jeep cost $480.00
No major problems
Just changed the Original Kumho's at 40k , now have Continental $299.00 per tyre fitted , I liked the Hankook AT but they only came in 109 load rating.

Re: Jeep service costs

Hi Baxter,
No issues using your parts at Albion? Also, I'm interested in the spec of your Continentals. Are they AT's.

Cheers.

Re: Jeep service costs

Glenn
Jeep Albion said no issues with parts provided they are Genuine Mopar (so not to cause warranty issues) , which mine are, I have supplied the oil previously without any issues.
The Continentials are Conticross LX which they say are for 80/20 usage but they appear to be more in between a HT and AT tyre. My Jeep will be 99% road use with the odd beach run. I liked the Hankook Tyres but since they only have a rated load of 109 they would be illegal on the Jeep. I read somewhere else that the Pirelli Scorpion ATR are now available for the Jeep , I had these on my Prado and was very happy with them.

I would normally agree but saved over $100 by going to Southport for my last service. I will shop the next one, the 40k around for the best price, but looks like supplying my own gear saves more than a few hundred.

Funny. When I shopped around for my 20K service Albion were a $100 cheaper than Southport. I normally drive to the Coast from BrisVegas because they're usually cheaper and they're within walking distance of some shops. When I called to cancel my booking and told them that they were $100 dearer they wanted to try and revise the price but I figured why not offer it straight up? I might remind GC CJD of that for the 30K service.

Booked in for my 40k service at Narellan next Tuesday. $950 including a loan car for the day. I see Baxter a few posts back paid a total of $937 with him supplying oil and filters himself. So for a few bucks extra its not worth me ordering filters from OS. So I'm happy with the quoted price. Initially when I rang to book there were no loan cars left but I explained I'm doing quite a few miles and didn't want to go another week (I'm in Narellan for business each Tuesday) . So Natasha said she'd sort another loaner to fit in with me. Very happy with the service. Will report back after Tuesday.

Almost a grand for a service, unbelievable! Anyway, supplying ones own oil and filter is more to ensure they use a specific product that to save money.

Hey I agree the cost is outrageous. I also got a price from NRMA service at 7 hills and it was $570 plus oil plus filters - so it would be about the same as Narellan. I have a mechanic who used to look after my previous challenger, but I'm not sure he can handle the tech in the jeep - he would not have access to updates. So I'm not sure there is much alternative.

So I'm siting here watching Bathurst and the add for Fuso trucks says service interval is now 30,000 k's. so why carnt a normal car have this sort of interval?
