The closest non-Sutton dealership to the eastern suburbs would probably be Heartland Chullora. I've had my 6mth service plus a couple of recalls done there without any dramas.

You'd need to call them to find out how long it might take.

Good luck. I did that.

Mine was on for about an hour, during most of which time not a lot happened apart from the "technician" playing on his laptop in front of the car, which I guess was the software updates happening. Then two voices in the car (behind the camera) were heard commenting on my camera....
And then it stopped. Bastards obviously disconnected it.
Miraculously it was later reconnected for PART of the test drive, and was working when I picked the car up.

I haven't bothered quizzing them about it after viewing the footage because they'd just make some feeble excuse.
I wouldn't trust the mongrels as far as I could throw them.

As little as possible of my servicing is being done by the dealer- both because of costs and (lack of) quality of service. This problem is NOT unique to Jeep dealerships. I've heard plenty of horror stories from friends and people I work with, about other makes.

Most service work is being done by a mechanic friend, and me. Then I know it's done properly.

Re: Jeep service costs

If you are concerned about Jeep's lack of interest with recalls, you are not the only one. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are gunning for Fiat-Chrysler for just that, see http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/19/bu...y-recalls.html
The Grand Cherokee mentioned in the article is the ZJ.

I'll have to check what oil they use.....
Ok, I got this a bit wrong. I dropped the Grand off this morning. They are connected to the new Jeep Indooroopilly dealership, who were previously Audi Indooroopilly. A new Audi has opened up at the roundabout on moggil rd, and the old audi showroom is now Jeep.

So anyway, these guys normally service Audi and seem to still be learning the Jeeps. They tell me they use Mopar oil for the diesels. High level of customer service on drop off, probably worth a few extra dollars.

What's the cost of the service estimated at?

Re: Jeep service costs

Picked it up. all good, they reckon the air filter is due for replacement at 20k, I thought it was 40k, but it was cracked anyway, so needed to be replaced $58 (ouch). And they did the 14-104 update as requested, they probably would have done it anyway.

They told me the oil was the mopar supplied, in the receipt it just says standard engine oil $156. Oil filter $84 (ouch)..... but customer service is very good.

Jeep service costs

Hi all,

Trying to stock up for my 40k in a bit over a week I didn't realise how hard it would be to find 75w-85 gl5 oil for the diffs. At the moment it looks like my options are

1 - hideously priced dealer oil
2 - 75w85 GL5
3 - 75w90 GL5

What's your thoughts of the importance of the difference in weights vs the difference in extreme pressure qualities of Gl5 vs GL4?

*** 4 - 20l of gulf Western GL5 75w85 for about $140 anyone in Brisbane interested going halves?

Do you have a ELSD. You will need the LSD modifiers. I recently with the RedLine 75w-90. 3L for $90.

Search 'GL5' as this has been discussed extensively.

Re: Jeep service costs

Thanks big skiddy no ELSD. Have googled gl5 fairly extensively just wanted to get some opinions on what the crew here are going with.
Will do a more focused search on the forums.

Have a read of this http://www.widman.biz/uploads/Transaxle_oil.pdf . I would think if the manual says GL5, you should definitely use GL5 particularly if you are towing. It seems GL4 has only half the EP additive of GL5.

Regarding 75W-85 or 75W-90, there is bugger all difference. For example, Mobil has their Mobil Delvac Synthetic Gear Oil which comes in only two grades, 75W-90 then straight to 80W-140. Shell offers only their Spirax S6 AXME 80W-140 for the GC. Castrol and Caltex both offer only "Refer to Dealer" (they are obviously reading out of the same hymn book). There are of course others but these are the big boys in our neck of the woods.
