Jeep service costs

Hmmm jeep dropped off at Northstar this morning, mixed feelings initial contact was great with a Jodie but didn't get to check the vehicle in with her.

Said there's a few issues with the vehicle and I think I have found some TSBs that will address the issues if the numbers will help only to get - "sorry sir we can't apply anything you've read about we need to diagnose ourselves"

WTF if a customer said to me hey I've done some work to try speed things up and help you out I'd say thanks heaps.

Then got told your vehicle doesn't qualify for the jeep tsb for wheel alignment because it's done 40k. I understand the logic here but really a manufacture releases a service bulletin to say "our cars pull left do this to fix it" it's not like I want one every 10k cause I've been 4wd.

Anyway we'll see what happens this afternoon / tonmorrow, it's a wash at the moment, above average communication initially below average drop off. Was really hard not to get riled up at the snooty poor attitude of the drop off lady but life's to short.

Good courteously bus service.

*end rant*

Driving my sisters petrol 100series around yesterday made my jeep feel like a rocket ship this morning

Re: Jeep service costs

Informed customers means they can't lie about what they did / bring out bs like "drive on the highway to fix dpf issue" or "they all do that"

Yeah, this is a common complaint, Steve1307 raised it in the dpf thread. And as Snuke points out you can't tell them you want TSBs applied. You have to report a problem that you have experienced, and then after they have recorded that problem on the job sheet, say 'I found a related TSB that may fix it' and hand them the print out. Its warranty work, so they won't do it proactively if you haven't had the problem. They only do that for recalls and RRTs.

Of course some dealers will be more flexible than others.

Re: Jeep service costs

Still yet to pick up the vehicle but have been told over the phone that all the issues I had were fixable via TSBs, not bothering with a fight about the wheel alignment as I think we probably only have 10k left in the khumo's anyway.

Couldnt adjust a door gap as it has to be done by panel shop (booked out 3 months) might try do it at home or next service.

Also wouldn't fix a broken fuel door as they said we bent it the wrong way (not sure if it was or not) but want about $300 for a painted replacement. Might try source one online.

Will post up the costings etc and see if there's any "jeep surprises" on pick up.

Re: Jeep service costs

Some feedback on the two TSBs I had done nearly two weeks ago:

21-012-15 - Flash: Transmission Shift Enhancements & ECO off

ECO button does not stay off, I don't care, but as others have experienced, this TSB doesn't fix that problem.
Shift enhancements, I wanted this for the extra engine braking on descents. When using cruise control, and going downhill, nothing would happen but pick up speed. I only tested it on one mild downhill, and it did shift down far quicker and do more to have engine braking and reduce speed. Still not as quick and aggressive as the 6sp ZF in my Falcon, but that does weigh less too. I will test it more on Kurrajong Heights hills this weekend.

08-071-14 - Flash: Park Assist Enhancement

Park Assist was waaaaaaay too sensitive, this has reduced it range a fair amount. I had it on the other day, and instead of driving me insane in normal traffic when a car would go past in another suburb, I was fine in leaving it on.

No. The ZF8 speed is not due for service until the 160,000 km mark according to them.

My service book - which predates the 8-speed- says "change automatic transaxle fluid and filter", and "change transfer case fluid" for the 50,000km service.
I'm having that service done next week, and they have quoted me $450 for it. It's possible that includes the transmissions' oil changes, and if it's not necessary, then I may ask them no to do it.
There seem s to be any number of different service schedules around. When I got a very large quote for the 40,000km service from Waitara, they told me they worked to a schedule "on Jeep Australia's computer system" and this included changing the brake fluid, for example.
Thanks,
Russell

Predates being the operative word I think Russell. My understanding is that it is a 'fill for life' sealed system. (Whatever 'Fill for life' means )

ETA: I found this tech sheet from 2012 which mentions the FFL thing (no dipstick or fill tube).

Re: Jeep service costs

The service schedule Snuke posted a while back seems to be pretty accurate:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=807480113

The 10k, 30k, 50k, etc services are just oil changes, the 20k/60k/100k add some new filters.

Its the 40k/80k etc that are the big ones.

Some have reported previously that they were being quoted ~$1k for the 50k service, but it turned out that was due to the transaxle fluid and filter being incorrectly included in the cost. It's no small job. That quote for $450 for a 50k service sounds pretty standard for oil and filters. If you shop around some do it a bit cheaper. $380 is a good deal.

Re: Jeep service costs

70k done this week. Not sure about returning to GC again. Car not serviced on time, TSB's not performed for the second time, book not stamped....and plenty more to rant about!
I note Springwood Qld is now run by Keema. They have been awesome as far as customer care with my wifes Hyundai at other dealerships. Anybody got any comments? Cheers.
