Keyless Entry Transceiver
I thought I'd share this little revelation. If anyone has pulled out the cargo floor bin (the plastic surrounds to the spare wheel), you might have noticed a little black unit fixed to the bin opposite the tail gate latch. It has two wires running to it that have to be disconnected to remove the bin. You might be forgiven for thinking, as I did, that it is the tail gate closed sensing unit. Wrong! It's actually the keyless entry transceiver.
I had disconnected the battery before without any dramas but this time I actually removed the battery and also had most of the back paneling out. I replaced the battery and went to start the car and found that not only didn't the keyless entry work but the keyless start also didn't work. However the fob entry worked as did the fob start. I though, this sounds like an expensive trip to the stealers to reprogram something. However, I searched through this wonderful site and found the answer on a thread called Infamous "key not detected" problem.
. Reconnected the transceiver and everything is back to normal.
