Re: LED Light Bar attached

Another way to do it is to take the feed at the hi beam switch end. A bit more fiddly this way, as you have to search for the connector under the dash.

Canbus, is not like the old wiring were you get 12v at a plug.
Switches send signals to the canbus computer which then does what it is told.

All I know is, my two hour job turned into eight hours. The auto electricians had to call a guy in to do it. Took him six hours. Lucky they charged me for two hours labour !! But seeing my car with the bumper off made me think no one knew what to do.

Re: LED Light Bar attached

I am certainly no expert, and probably more of an idiot when it comes to Canbus.
However, for a highbeam light to glow, it needs 12v of DC power. I was of the impression that Canbus is supplying the switch and monitoring the load. Therefore, when you switch on highbeam, Canbus sends a signal to the control to switch on the power. I am therefore still of the opinion that you should be able to take a feed off the back of the headlight HB wire, and feed that to plug 85 on a relay. All that wire is doing is supplying a trigger to the relay, so load will be minimul and Canbus should not even notice the load difference.
I also would have thought the Wrangler forum guys would be able to shed some knowledge on the subject, as there are many Wranglers with Driving lights.

Adjusted the light bar tonight and I am happy with the output. Of course it would be better higher up around roof level, but that light is to come in a few weeks. The photo does the light no justice but it does make a huge improvement on top of the high beams.

Re: LED Light Bar attached

Wow, that is a pretty good improvement. going to be great with the second light bar installed.
Where did they install the switch? assuming you have one installed, i am curious as to where to mount it.

I got a stuck on switch, like the one that comes with IPF lights. This way there was no drilling into the dash. I'm a little happier now I adjusted the light.

It can still be done off the switch. CANBUS nominal levels are either 3.5v or 1.5v. It will take some fiddling to pick which is the right wire. You will need a suitable relay that can be thrown at 3.5v, such as a solid state relay. This in turn can drive the 12v driving light relays.

Can you snap some pics of where and how you mounted the auxiliary light switch(es)?

Re: LED Light Bar attached

Looks great!! Rigid industries certainly make fantastic LED auxiliary / Driving lights. We have had very positive feedback from our customers that purchase these from us. There's also never been a better time to save on these products with the current site promotion.

This Looks Sick! where did you pick up the lightbar? Make and Model?
