Lights Flashing and Horn Sounding

The last couple of the nights for no apparent reason, sitting in the garage, the JGC indicator lights start flashing and the horns starts intermittently going off. After a short period the horn stops, but the lights are still flashing. By pressing the key fob unlock button the lights stop flashing and everything appears normal. It has done this before about a couple of month's
It sound as though I have an alarm fitted, but I haven't.

Has this happened to anyone and if so what might it be.

The Australian Overland has an in-built security system.

I have triggered it numerous times myself - including waking up the neighbours at 11:30pm last night when I closed the hood while the car was locked.

There were some issues with early versions having dodgey switches on the bonnet latch:

If you leave your windows down and the car locked, it will set the alarm off.

Re: Lights Flashing and Horn Sounding

The Jeep is booked in to have this issue looked at on Friday. The service adviser told me the bonnet switch needs adjustment, but my concern is the from what I saw it looks as though it is mounted with no adjustment. I mentioned there was a TSB for this problem(which he wasn't aware of) and it appears my Jeep has not had this TSB uploaded.

The alarm went of again this morning and again this evening. The strange part is it goes of just after sunset in the evening and just before sunrise in the morning. Luckily we don't live in suburbia.

My wife also once (quickly in a rush) locked the kids in the car whilst paying for petrol... didn't take them long to set the alarm off

I have only triggered it once and that was while hitching up the caravan. Unfortunately for the neighbours it was at 4am

Re: Lights Flashing and Horn Sounding

The dealer had a look and said there was nothing obvious and the only code they found was one saying that the battery voltage was low in on of the remote keys. They did say that they installed an upgraded program and they also installed a new battery in the remote(for free).
