That hill descent setting is a winner on steep rocky tracks and other than the limited clearance this car is pretty good offroad.

Two more days of offloading with the jeep club should keep the excitement going, no more vehicle alterations would be good though.
Just more battle scars Braveheart!

maybe fortunate that the airbags didn't pop if you gave it enough of a thump to put a dent in the bar.....
probably too late to say it but a slight easing off might be in order - if only to save the hip pocket!!!

Looking one way to make sure I didn't hit a tree close on the left and ran into the fallen tree on the right!! Slower would have helped!!

oh, thanks for the pic - I thought you meant a DENT!!!
that's one's neither here nor there........for what you have been doing with it!!
Slight easing off is still the recommendation.

Re: long range fuel tank installed - crd

Yes, better dented bar than shattered plastic ! Great day today with a long tyre height river crossing, more hill climbs, in the rain, and some more war wounds on the LR tank and some new ones on the rock rails, car never missed a beat in spite of the driver!! Only 6 wk2 here at the rally, but hundreds of 4 door wranglers.

Re: long range fuel tank installed - crd

Yesterday was even more intense, rock steps, more steep climbs and plenty of bumps. We can add more LR tank dents, I think the design should be adjusted, it copped plenty including on the lower corners. Also destroyed a mudflap, ripped both 25 mm drain plugs out of the battery compartment and pulled the fuel line out of a supporting bracket. Definitely needed a rear lift for what we did. Track was a c plus with some b sections. We did however make the whole trip along without needing a snatch or tow!

Re: long range fuel tank installed - crd

Front level only, really does need quadra lift, there were two other wk2 on last trip with ql and it made all the difference. I will keep posting photos as we head for cape York and birdsville.

Cheers Andrew

Re: long range fuel tank installed - crd

You said that you did a lot of tire height river crossing? Jeep says that you should keep water fording to a depth of 20" what exactly are you risking as far as damage when fording water that is deeper than 20"
