If I recall when the protector was placed over the base not all screws could be screwed in to hold the corresponding lips flat against the underside of the bonnet and when the lip was forced around the base so that it sat flat and allowed all screws to be screwed in, then the outer centre part of the protector warped slightly.

Therefore you might find that the other lips where the screws are, do not ALL sit flat on the underside of the bonnet and if so it is because of this.
Hey MM, it is a tight fit but looking at it it seems to be sitting well and all the screws are definitely in. I do note that there are a few little notches around the post, I wonder if this is due to a modification the dealer did - if you look at the photos above you can make out what I'm talking about.

Nope, they all have those notches but they don't line up with anything!!!

I've got the bonnet guard but do not have that small seal strip installed. Is that something that should be installed to a CRD? My whole engine bay has a seal around the outer edge with a foam deflector just to the left of the air intake.

My CRD has a rubber strip on both sides on the underneath of the front of the bonnet.

I recall this subject was queried not too long ago. The outcome was there was a rubber seal on the front of the bonnet on the passenger side only - to prevent water from entering the air intake.

So how'd you end up with both sides!!!

Re: Mopar 8220WKBP Bonnet Protector not suitable for 2012 GC

By the way, I did send my bonnet protector issue on to Chrysler/Mopar Aust who claimed the bonnet protector had been sold and installed on a mountain of vehicles by dealers without any problems nor complaints. I then provided them with photos of my mod stating that the dealers were forcing them on and/or performing the same mod as I and other JGC owners did. They then replied with they would raise it to the design team.

Maybe they forgot to remove the strip and send it to spares for resale in order to send the Managing Director of Chrysler Aust on a golf junket.

It truly would not surprise me if that was the case but the bonnet protector instructions (yep I read them) state the need to lift up the rubber strip on the passenger side.

I could'nt trouble you for a copy of the instructions please?. I can then take it to the dealer to report the missing seal.

No problems I have it at home though I won't be able to get a PDF of it to you until start of week.

Here's the link relating to previous discussions of whether 1 or 2 rubber seals should be on the bonnet. Rubber Seal on Bonnet

Here is the Bonnet Protector installation instructions that indicate the rubber seal on the passenger side is there and remains there even with the protector attached. There is also the picture further up from [JASMAN] showing it.
