Re: My new Summit - 3 weeks and 2500 km later - The good and the not so good.

It is the salesman that informed me that it was the 19 speaker Harman Kardon system!
So it's interesting to find out that it may not actually be the same Harman Kardon as in the US models

When one thinks of speakers, HK, is not even remotely in the middle of the list, let alone top.
They have an interesting take on the current in their decent AVRs, but aside from that, HK leave a lot to be desired.
I have a sour taste about HK after their local importer showed that Jeep Au still have a way to go to achieve the worst customer service available.
Convoy International, screw you!

I know that has nothing to do with your jeep, I am just ranting.

Yes we do get a different sound system, Benn0. The Aussie Summit sound system is basically the standard plus some extra dual cone speakers and an upgraded amp. There's no Logic 7 surround processing or 10 inch sub. It sounds fine, just not much different from the standard system. My wife has Harman Kardon in her Mercedes and that is an awesome system!

Well that is dodgy, all the articles say it is the harmon kardon

Even the Aus website says:

Quote:
19 premium Harmon Kardon speakers including subwoofer and powered by a 825-watt digital amplifier.
Compare Models - Grand Cherokee

Are you sure it isn't the same?

This is a grab from the Jeep Australia specs for the Summit (from your link).
As you can see no mention of HK.

Click on the Uconnect Multimedia tab, it shows:
Quote:

I'm not overly concerned by whether it does or doesn't, just seems strange that it does in the US, and says it does in the literature, but isn't being delivered with it.

Well just had this reply from the dealer regarding the HK systems in the Summit?

It does mention the Amp but does not mention the Sub? But the dealer assures me that it is the same system as in the US models
And he wouldnt just lie to me just to make the sale

"Hi Mark

The harman/kardon system that is standard in the Summit is the same system that is fitted to the US vehicle.

Im not sure what your hearing, but our Summit definitely includes this system.

I'll post some shots of speaker set up and maybe we can compare them with a US model, see if they are the same.
There's certainly no branding on the speakers themselves or any indication in the audio section of the uConnect interface.

Here's few photos I took of my system. As far as I can see, apart from the extra speaker in the front doors, not much different from standard. For info, the sub grille measures around 20cm (8").
