My New Summit - A couple more oddities

Having driven the car for nearly a month, I'm noticing a couple more undocumented "features".
In every other car I've owned the climate control remembers your preferred temperature, the one you set from either the soft or hard buttons. My Jeep, however resets the temperature for both zones to 21 degrees C each time I shut down and restart the engine - most times. Occasionally,if I only turn off the engine for a short time, it will remember my selection until the next time I shut down. Then I'm back to square one.
Secondly, since carrying out the uConnect update (13.51.1) which removed the menu item to set automatic comfort features my seat heating/ventilation operates automatically anyway - driver's side only - most times. I'll get in the car and start it, look down at the uConnect screen and if the outside temp is above 26 C my seat ventilation has turned itself on low - most times. If a passenger is with me, the system ignores them completely.
Are these the sort of anomalies that, as a Jeep owner, I should expect from their flagship vehicle? Because at times it feels like my car is haunted.

Re ventilated seats, driver only, it is working as it should be. See your owners manual.

• Auto-On Driver Heated/Ventilated Seat & Steering Wheel With Vehicle Start — If Equipped
When this feature is selected the driver’s heated seat and heated steering wheel will automatically turn ON when temperatures are below 40 F (4.4 C). When temperatures are above 80 F (26.7 C) the driver vented seat will turn ON. To make your selection, touch the Auto Heated Seats soft-key, then select either Off, Remote Start or All Starts until a check-mark appears next to setting, show- ing that setting has been selected. Touch the back arrow soft-key to return to the previous menu.

As for temp, when it comes back on as you set it, has been left in full Auto mode, and you just set temp?'Then when it doesn't work, have you made a manual change other than just temp setting?

I agree that the auto comfort feature is as you've pointed out, Snuke, but as I have written I have never enabled this feature and what's more uConnect update 13.51.1 removes the menu selection for it. It seems to have decided to put itself into auto mode, and I have no way of turning auto mode off. Plus it only operates automatically 90% of the time - not always.
As for the climate control, I always leave it in full auto, never adjust anything else, just my desired temperature. My last four cars with climate control Toyota, Mercedes x 2 and Audi all remembered my temperature settings until I changed them. The Jeep wants to reset to 21 C every time I get in - 90% of the time :-)

Ours always stays on what we set it to, even if I fiddle with direction controls. As it should.

I'm sure this has been reported by others previously.....

Re: My New Summit - A couple more oddities

I'm thinking of trying to load in the original version of the the uConnect software to get the menu for auto comfort back. I haven't noticed any real difference (apart from stuff missing) since I've done the upgrade.
Does anyone know a. Are the previous versions available? And b. Will the system allow you to load a lower version number?

Yes and Yes. If you become a financial member on the site, you will be able to access the VIP section that will have the older file.

Thanks Snuke. I am now a financial member, so I'll download the file and try and do the "un-upgrade" over the weekend.
On the climate control front after some experimentation I've discovered something even more unusual. If I set my desired temp BELOW 21C it is retained by the system. So a setting of 19C will be there each time I start the car. If I set a desired temp ABOVE 21C it will decrement one degree each time I start the car until it has reached 21 at which point it stays there. So, for example, if I set the driver's temp to 25C and the pax to 24 when I shut down the car and restart the driver's temp will be 24 and the pax 23. The next time driver's will be 23 and pax 22. And so on. Obviously a software issue and hopefully one that someone else has some experience with.

A Dr Karl book is coming your way for running an experiment to test outcomes.

So many people just bitch about things and why try different variations to see outcomes. No attempt to problem solve.
You can now supply this accurate info to service manager to report.

Mate, I spent 34 years troubleshooting this sort of stuff in the airlines. Quite often it's the other things going on in the system that lead you to the cause of the problem.
Plus, the more knowledge you're armed with, the more likely the dealer will take you seriously.

Well, I wound the uConnect update back but the auto comfort menu was still missing. Luckily I found a SB at Jeep which I gave to my dealer when I took it back to have the tow bar fitted. I can now disable auto seat venting/heating. They said it should fix my climate control issue. It didn't. The Limited they gave me for a few days while the work was done had the same problem/feature.
I'm thinking of writing to Jeep with a full description to see whether this is normal system functioning or an issue they're not aware of.
