Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Received an email back from Jeep US (see below)....it confirms that the Australian RJ3 radio used in Australian Laredo's is not equipped to do Navigation.....so aftermarket options are the only way forward for Laredo owners....feeling Australian Laredo owners have been left short on this.

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Jeep Customer Assistance Center.

According to our records, your vehicle was equipped from the factory
with the RJ3 Uconnect 8.4 AM/FM/BT radio. This radio is not equipped
with or compatible with navigation software.

Not really, at no stage has there been any indication from Jeep Aus that the Aus Laredo would have Sat Nav.
The complete opposite, it was clear it was not available. It is only after looking outside of Aus that you find what is available to others.
If Sat Nav was a major feature you needed, you either spend $10K more for a Limited, which is just stupid, or spend $100 on a stand alone unit.

I use a stand alone unit in my Falcon, and prefer that I can have that in my line of sight while driving rather than having to look down to the centre console.
The upcoming direction change in the EVIC is good, but not helpful for longer term planning.

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

I agree ...feels short compared to US Laredo option.

Also agree that a small nav unit more line of sight is a better option.

And agree ...having to pay 10k to get a 500dollar nav ability option is ridiculous.

Honestly, just chuck a $100 unit on your windscreen. It's what I did. It'll probably work better than Jeep's NAV anyway, be updated more frequently, and have more features.

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Just got a price for the unti with Android Apps/Internet, etc

Price 1399 Euro ..you do the math ! Also the unit has to be sent to them ! ... which is a bugger... assuming that the car wont run without it ? and the risk involved of course.... wonder if someone local can do this ???

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Perhaps it could be better if the aftermarket techs could replace the low res uconnect screen display with a higher res display unit with additional inputs.....when I use the ipad I realize just how limited the uconnect system is!...and also if only it were possible to input uconnect video/touch screen input into an ipad or such tablet...!
