Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

My El-Cheapo Apps/Internet/Video/Voice Navigation Ipad Install lol! Cost $2 (apart from an old Ipad) Audio - Bluetooth Streaming or Audio Jack. Detaches quickly and easily. Most of the Uconnect abilities are mirrored either with Voice or via the Knob controls...so the Ipad can be left in place during travel.

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Hi TV Sat Nav from Suttons
Anyone out there had the Laredo aftermarket Sat Nav installed and if so how is it performing?

Is it presenting issues with the head unit?

Do the dealers point to the sat nav install as the culprit when presenting to the dealer with any of the problems experienced by others. ie: HVAC, Camera, Instrument Panel, Quadralift, etc.

Is the I Go Primo running well on the jeep system? The short video on youtube is not detailed enough.

Apparently when they install the sat nav, they can install a reverse camera at the same time. Whilst the Dealer has promoted the install of the sat nav from Hi TV and they have written on the contract " aftermarket sat nav will be supplied with a 3 year warranty" the salesman is recommending I wait and have the jeep camera installed. He has guarenteed that a camera will be set aside for my Laredo and that I will get the Trail Rated Badge as advertised. He said he hasn't seen an aftermarket camera as good as the jeep one.???

The owner of HiTV said the sat nav installer can do a camera at the same time, so I would be inclined to go in that direction given the problems with Jeeps cameras and thats if you can hold of one. Some folk are waiting 12 months...Crazy.

Talking about crazy....when they do the sat nav they go into the head unit and I believe solder in a ribbon and do some other stuff.

Dealers at Northern Beaches, Waitara all the Suttons Dealers promoting the install pre-delivery and then a big dealer in Melbourne was giving away free aftermarket sat nav (Hi TV ). Dealer told me when I rang same thing Suttons told me Jeep Australia are warranting the install. They are covering it. Dealer in Melbourne said they were not taking orders on Laredo's presently as they had 136 sat nav units on order and lots of angry Laredo owners still waiting for the 'upgrade.'

I'm thinking about cancelling the sat nav for the Laredo in case it gives me grief with Jeep Dealers, given this seems to be a 'beta' vehicle requiring frequent visits to the 'Dr'.

Somebody please tell me they have a working Laredo with the Hi TV Sat Nav and all other systems are working faultlessly and you could not be happier. Please!

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Prior to Christmas Northern Beaches told me they had done in excess of 40 Laredo Sat Nav installs and the I Go Primo Sat Nav from Hi TV was working well.

Dealer in Melbourne had installed a bunch....BUT no-one seems to be talking about it. Why Not?

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Id say contact Jeep Australia and ask them about the HiTv Sat Nav installation in regards to warranty.....I find it interesting to hear the dealers are saying to you that Jeep Australia will honour a warranty on such an install...!

Ive got the so called Jeep camera...and it is ..absolutely !@#$%*! ...frankly any camera will be more useful than the Jeep supplied one....in fact I do not use it at all...why!? because it is a safety hazard...you have no way of knowing how far away you are from anything...it is a complete waste of time...and dangerous to rely on. (unless you tow....and want a great view of the hitch!)

To install the Igo Sat Nav is a big job... and your right ..if there are so many MY2014 JGC Laredo owners out there that have had this done where are they !? you would hope at least one would have come across this forum/thread by now.

The stupid thing about this is that they could have given Australians the choice of activating the inbuilt Sat Nav for a price...as they do for the ROW....sigh........

Jeep Australia have stated the HiTv Sat Nav install would void the warranty on the head unit and lets face it the head unit drives a lot of stuff.

I would have been amazed if it didn't void the warranty for the head unit, or anything it is physically connected to.

This was my response 5 months ago and it has taken this long to get someone in a 'position of authority' to acknowledge the voiding of the warranty.

During this period of time several dealers have claimed otherwise.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about Jeep and how its operating in Aus.

Re: MY2014 Aftermarket TouchScreen NAV For Australians

Makes me suss that the product photo isn't of an actual functioning system. Otherwise, it sounds better than the Limited / Overland nav!

Cheers,
Steve
