Re: MY2014 GC Limited Springs

Have now had it on the weighbridge. Good news is that the overall weight is 3.15t with about 100l fuel, the bad news is the tow all writ is...ummm...significantly over 350kg. Have done some calcs and I need to move the axle group 300mm forward, which is coincidentally what was noted previously. Hayman reese manufacture the boat trailer adaptor which is what was shown in the photo. Will be getting that, the 800lb kit, moving the axles and finding a new spot for the jockey wheel and spare.

Again, thanks for the help/ advice

Re: MY2014 GC Limited Springs

Good work on biting the bullet and addressing the problem correctly.

Oh... are you going to 'fess up the "significantly over 350kg" ball weight? We won't tell... I promise!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: MY2014 GC Limited Springs

The photos are as the weight was put on, without any self levelling so very happy with results. Only issue is the trunnions only have about 170mm clearance under them but have done some test drives and gone over some hills/lumps/gulleys and they haven't touched. Trailer sits 20mm higher at the front than what it would be if it was perfectly level but I think that is close enough, going lower would take more clearance away from under the trunnions.

Ended up moving 300mm on the axles which should theoretically be about 330kg on the ball, moved jockey wheel, moved spare wheel, WDH and boat adaptor, had to get custom brackets to be welded to the boat adaptor and new bolts, new chains as the originals weren't long enough etc etc. Moving 300mm also meant that electrics for lights and hydraulics for brakes had to be extended. Got an uncle in the right business so got all the work done at cost price but still not cheap...
