Re: Navigation System Quirks

I dont suppose the Help Line offered to give the map update as a free upgrade due to the issues?

They would most certainly want to. This has been an issue since day dot, so if they think they will be charging to fix something that was always broken, they'll have another thing coming.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Regardless of the misleading and faulty routing in the Jeep GPS, I think we can all agree that the Jeep GPS is basic. I think anyone who has any experience with a Tom Tom or Garmin, or even the aldi $49.95 GPS will know what a reliable GPS should do.

Now the good news. Today I took my Jeep into the Canberra Dealer where Craig Rosevear of Jeep HO had sent the map update disks. They have uploaded the disks and I tested it against known routes that previously had instructed us to go via capital cities making the GPS unuseable. Here are the examples of my tests:

Canberra to Batemans Bay - last week via Sydney and 512 kms. Today on the Jeep GPS 148kms, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

Canberra to Dubbo - last week via Sydney and 618 kms. Today by Jeep GPS 407kms, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

Canberra to Bendigo - last week via Melbourne and 778 kms. Today by Jeep GPS 650km, travelling the same as Google and Tom Tom.

POIs - at least Bunnings is no longer in NZ. Under Emergency it shows 2 hospitals in Canberra (correct) but another in Braidwood. Missed the Queanbeyan hospital, another major regional hospital only 8 kms away. So I guess in an emergency I would prefer to use my mobile phone to check.

THIS UPDATE WAS FREE. SO IT SHOULD BE AFTER PROMISING A FIX FOR ALMOST 18 MONTHS.

AND A BIG THANK YOU TO CANBERRA A.C.T. DEPARTMENT OF FAIR TRADING - THIS RESULT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR LETTERS, EMAILS AND CALLS OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS.

Jeep certainly wasn't interested in my welfare. I have a stat declaration from another Jeep owner, in preparation for a court case, that even up to 24 April 2013 Tracey at Jeep customer service was telling people she knew nothing about the navigation routing issues.

Not a wise idea, Tracey and Jeep. The internet makes for a small world.

Why not contact Jeep Customer Care and ask for your free GPS update - Tracey can be reached on 1300 133 079.

Good luck!

That was answered earlier.
However I believe the below to be the new versions:
APPLICATION: 2.137
DATABASE: HPT1-A 1247 4.4.0

Another point to note. If anyone has already got the 2.137 update, from downloading it yourself, it will be overwritten back to 2.136 if you get a service and they do a ECU update for the sand fix. This is because, for reasons known only to Jeep Aust, they are only releasing 2.136 as the latest software.
I guess they have finally caught up with the Map upgrade, as 2.137 appears to be part of that, but that has not yet been released.

Hi Guys,

Would it be possible to install 2.137 version ourselves or do we need dealer to do it. If we can do it where can we get the install file?

Re: Navigation System Quirks

My aplologies. I meant 2.126 to 2.136.
2.137 is new, and I have not seen that update on SOX's site.

If you have a version less than 2.136 you can update yourself.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

The benefits of 2.136 are noticable, certainly sound and FM reception-wise, however there are still some programming glitches where the description on the touch screen command does not relate to what it actually does. (Bottom right button when navigating cancels you right back to the start when it should go back one page in certain scenarios).

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Got the same answer yesterday and she said it would cost. I complained so she took my VIN and said she would see what she could do.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

All we need to tell jeep is their Satnav is not of a merchantable quality under the ACL.
They will have no choice but to make good our cars. Nobody should have to pay to have this problem fixed.
