Can't we just update ourselves somehow if we get hold of the files and disk.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

You cannot simply install a Map update. These are configured to record your VIN.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

You are a consumer with a right to goods that work. Jeep has relied on the "too hard" principle. That is, people give up when they are told often enough that they are the only one.

No - we won't pay for something to fix their faulty goods that they continue to knowingly sell.

DON'T PUT UP WITH IT! YOUR PRO-ACTIVE WORK WILL MAKE LIFE FOR OTHER JEEP OWNERS BETTER AND JEEP FULFIL WHAT THEY MUST LEGALLY DO - GIVE YOU WHAT YOU PAID FOR.

I suggest you put in writing to Jeep/Tracey just one letter with a time frame that you want the sat nav fixed within a reasonable time - say 2 weeks. If they ignore you, as they did me, then go to your state department of fair trade and give them the matter.

Jeep ignored me. But were much more receptive to communications with our Dept of Fair Trade. And put the updates in for free.

I also have a file prepared for legal action including an email from a Jeep dealer as recently as 23 May 2013 stating "the issue is caused by a bug in the software, which would not be rectified by replacing the satnav unit with another unit....." I am happy to make that document available to anyone who requests it.

Of course they want VIN numbers - it makes sense they are being charged per car. This gets down to money. And priorities.

Obviously Jeep prioritise their money to polo games, football teams and racing over fixing known faulty goods to customers.

For all the thousands of Jeep owners in Australia - make them do the right thing.

problem is that Jeep Aust have a deal with Navteq. Navteq will not supply Aussie Mapping to owners. They will supply only to registered dealerships. If you go to the Navteq site, it will refer you to your jeep dealer, and there will be no information regarding Map versions. So there is no way of even knowing whether the mapping you have installed is the latest or not, other than through owners sharing information.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Hey Bungendore - I rang "Tracey" today . Except I got a "Sean". He told me that Jeep have received a "Test" disc from Nokia?? (maybe he meant Navteq?) & currently are evaluating it on "one vehicle" It should be available to distribute to dealers in about 4 weeks he says. So I lodged a Case Number ( 266775) on the phone. He has my email & mobile numbers , the VIN of the vehicle & the Dealer details. Time will tell!!!!!!! So you were extremely lucky to have got obviously a copy of the test disc to run in your vehicle in Canberra hey!!!! Anyway thats the story they are spinning today 11th June......
