Re: Navigation System Quirks

Gabs,
I advised the dealer that there was a software update two weeks ago, took it to them to check out the issue that I had recently, they told me that I had the latest software installed.
The following day I rang the dealer and gave them the latest update version 2.120 they then contacted Chrysler Aust an low and behold they did have the latest version. They also changed the gps antenna and moved it, (why I don't know as I have never lost signal).
I will try it simulate our last trip to SA to see if I can get a better route.

DH you just mentioned Aust specific update, data or software?

I have from a reliable source an AUS specific update is now on its way in the next 3-4 months.
2.120 is the version I have always had since I've had the car. The routing is stuffed.

Was told yesterday by the dealer that the system software is being addressed specifically for us in oz or by oz itself and not the original developer. The original devleper that wrote our system was either sent walking or went out of business or along those lines.

Lets hope they get it to display the Road Speed Limit while they are at it!

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Finally got to take mine for a good run this weekend. Drove from Sydney-Canberra-Batemens Bay-Wollongong-Sydney. About 800 klms in all.
The run to Canberra using the Nav worked like a dream with not a foot stepped out of place. I thought the issues that I observed on my very first outing must have been a bug which ironed itself out.
Then I punched in a new location, which was a run from Canberra to Batemans Bay 146klms in all. The Nav then outlined a trip which routed back up the Hume Hwy to Sydney, then down the Princes Hwy to Batmans Bay. That was 557klm long.
I could not believe the rationale behind the calculation. Even when driving the direct route, the nav system continually tried to rediredt me back upto Sydney, at least until I hit Braidwood. Only then did it re-route. What a piece of Rubbish.
One very surprising thing though, I was able to add destinations as we were driving, which I understood was not possibloe with these systems. I thought you had to stop to be able to enter and set a destination.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

You can add waypoints during your journey whilst driving, that's what I had to do when traveling from Burra (SA ) to Broken Hill, which was less than 400km, but the stupid system wanted to send us back to Adelaide to Mildura then upto Broken Hill, around 959km.
Their is a software update that your dealer can do 2.120, have not tested it yet.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Ok mine has taken the whole ultimate search engine add way to far.. last week I selected the nav and it came up with the South African flag and no data for the mapping I guess being in Australia that would be the case. I could not change it back to Australia via system settings so I ended up finding out how to get into service mode and changed the region back to Australia. Today driving along I noticed the screen had a message changing language. I now had to learn French to change it back to English. I have wasted money in my time but this Sat Nav is going to take some beating.
