Re: Navigation System Quirks

Just saw the BMW X5 advert on TV promoting it comes with a $9000 innovation pack....including a "professional" navigation system.

My guess is they have researched their opponents.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

Just did a followup with Jeep Aust regarding the issues with routing in the Navigation. They tell me that they are aware of the issue, and that a fix has been released to testing stage. They expect to release it to dealers in 4-6 weeks.
The fix is being done by Navteq

Appreciate the update.

If Navteq can get the system to run as well as the navigation directions on their web site, all will be good.

It's to replace with a new antenna, not just reposition it.

Re: Navigation System Quirks

I had this done a few weeks ago but not been able to test it with any long distances, I'm not convinced it fixed it though

Re: Navigation System Quirks

There are 2 major issues with the GC Navigation. So lets not get them confused.

1. The location of the antenna. There is a TSB out for this, which involves a new antenna as well as a relocation away from the rasio, I suspect the replacement is solely due to the length of the cable not being susceptible to relocation.

2. The mapping software engine. This has serious bugs, and "appears" to only recognise major highways when calculating routes. This can cause you to be routed 100's of klms away from the direct, or most practical route. Navtaq have apparently developed a fix, which was in testing a few weeks ago when I enquired, and is awaiting a release by Jeep.

Or go a little remote and it takes you down a disused dirt road instead of the 20year old new road
