Re: New Overland CRD - SatNav Does Not See Any Satellites ...

Had my antenna replaced - now I get local maps showing up but the location is a few kms off - I'm going to give it more time to reset(?) itself, but I'm concerned that the number of satellites it says it sees under the relevant menu option is still = 0.

Hate the time wasted on this issue - but otherwise love the car so far.

Re: New Overland CRD - SatNav Does Not See Any Satellites ...

the problem from the export car are the location from the gps antenna and the isolation material under the dashboard, remove this and you riceved more satelitte and its work.

ok thanks - but why aren't other australian 2012 overland owners reporting the same problem - are they just lucky to be getting 1 or 2 satellites ? - do the dealers install the satnav and other dealers are just better than mine at it ? there must be an explanation ...

Re: New Overland CRD - SatNav Does Not See Any Satellites ...

Can anyone advise the exact location of the GPS antenna, and how to access it?

Re: New Overland CRD - SatNav Does Not See Any Satellites ...

I can now report that my problem has been fixed (after my dash was taken apart twice ).

First time they replaced the antenna but I still got 0 satellites and 0dB readings in the engineering menu.

Second time they repositioned the (same replaced) antenna from directly above the radio to behind my speedo - bang 8 satellites.

I suspect something (my radio?) is the source of some serious EMI in the centre of my console.

Back to loving my car ....

I posted this issue in another thread a few weeks ago. according to the dealer, the Overlands have thicker dash padding than the Laredo or Ltd. They just repositioned the antenna at the 1000km service and it was all good after that. Sounds like it is a common problem with our Overlands, my dealer knew what the problem and solution was as soon as I mentioned it.

Yes except that this same thicker dash padding extends across the whole dash area from what I could see (I had a look when it was all apart the second time) - including the dash area above the speedo where the antenna was relocated.

While a thicker dash would reduce satellite signals I don't think that it was the (sole) reason for exactly 0dB signals when the same antenna was located exactly where it was designed to be in an Overland in my car

Re: New Overland CRD - SatNav Does Not See Any Satellites ...

Now there is a TSB for this:

SUBJECT:
Navigation Losing Satellite Signal
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves relocating the Global Position System (GPS) antenna.
MODELS:
2011 - 2012 (WK) Grand Cherokee (International Only)
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built before February 9, 2012 (MDH0209XX)
with MEDIA CENTER 735N CD/DVD/MP3/H (sales code RHW) or a
AM/FM/CD/MP3 Nav Radio (sales code RHP).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customers navigation functions may not work properly.
Electro magnetic interference (EMI) coming from the radio is blocking the GPS satellite
signals resulting in a loss of the navigation functions. Moving the antenna away from the
radio will repair this concern.

My Satnav is playing up again, so the thicker dash story appears incorrect. The service dept mustn't have moved the antenna far enough away from the magnetic source.
