New Tyres

I'm getting the laredo with 18inch rims. Any reason why I shouldn't fit new tyres which are slightly bigger 265/65R18 Bridgestone A/T Revo 2 versus standard 265/60R18. The increased diameter 26.5mm is within the 4WD tolerance of 50mm..

I cant get these $319 a tyre delivered

Re: New Tyres

I recon there are many reasons why you should do that

I keep going back to this thread http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=28552. Looks sooo much better and will certainly help when the going gets tough. If only the black mopar rims would be available locally for a good price...

Btw wouldn't mind the roof rack either...

Do you know exactly where this is documented? Im trying to find out now exact info on what you can legally increase tyres to in Australia, including info on load and speed ratings..

I hear different stuff all the time, and cannot for the life of me find the 'official' websites for answers...

Re: New Tyres

Here you go... http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa.../vsb_ncop.aspx

Just had a read through this today. Tyres and wheels are covered in NCOP11 Section LS Suspension and Steering.

Re: New Tyres

Thanks for that! And all states use this now? I remember years ago every state was different in what they accept, etc.

And pwyss - Thats my fav looking Jeep also in the link you sent... i want mine to look like that..!!

Im looking for something around 60% road, 40% offroad at the moment for mine (still a few months away from getting it, so plenty of time to research), but the 265/60/18 range is VERY limited in Australia...

Opens up more with 275/65/18 though..

That's the million dollar question I can't answer but I'm reasonably sure they do.

Looks like we are in a similar boat... also still 4 months away from getting my JGC but already full in research mode.

I'm very keen on getting some nice black rims to go with the A/T tyres. Again, choice is almost non-existent in Aus and while the Mopar rims look good, the 50% "bonus" added to the local price is less appealing.

275/65/18 would be my preferred option but I'm wondering if the increase in size and gear ratio change is something to worry about? Also don't want them to stick out too much and some (all?) 275 size tyres won't fit in the spare tyre compartment which definitely would be a big nuisance.

Maybe powder coating the ones it comes with an option? They are a nice looking rim i think.

Yea I was worried about if the 275 would fit in the spare spot, i was hoping a slightly less agressive 275 'might' fit in, even if it had to be deflated slightly..

I was also hoping to get LT rated tyres too, which to date I havent found any LT rated in the 265/60/18 range..

Maybe it will help but I don't really like the look.

Deflation may not help, they are just too wide....

I think I will be looking at something in the 265/65/18 range. Even less choice than 265/60/18 but maybe BFG or Dueler Revo 2 may be an option?

LT would be nice but as you said, only available for 275 size.

Been trying to use the BFG website for weeks and it is STILL broken - obviously noone looks after it.

Dueler Revo 2 available in Australia or you looking to import?

BFGs are available in Aus. For example here http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/tyres/...-terrain-ta-ko

And I was sure I have seen Revo 2 as well but now can't find it....
