Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

There tow hooks not recovery hooks.
I would expect recovery hooks to be rated more like 6 times the mass.

Quite simply - they don't fit the 2012 models we get here - the front crossmember rails have been modified.
If it was that simple this thread would have been long dead.....
Check out the thread from way back and you'll get the history. It is a long story....well not really but it is dragging on....hence the frustration.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Enforcer after reading the new ACL I think Jeep have got to correct every car for free. The issue boils down to the product not being fit for purpose irrespective of the date sold. The vehicle is advertised and promoted as an off road capable vehicle and that capability must include recovery options as off road use will result in recovery situations. It is my opinion that no court would side with Jeep on this issue and you could opt for a refund.

I have an Overland on order and have made it clear that I won't take delivery unless recovery hooks are in place. The dealer has told me (3 weeks ago) that the solution will be available in Late May or early June.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Hhmm, did anyone see Jeep Aus reply to my Facebook post yesterday?

Jeep Australia - Hi Scott, We are glad to hear you are making the most of your Jeep. Sorry no official word on the recovery hooks at this stage but we will be sure to post any developments as they happen. Jeep Australia. Yesterday at 2:24pm**Like

Is it just me or is there now a little bit o' suspicion, smoke and mirrors going on.

If the solution is in place, approved by ADR and now being manufactured in bulk from some little engineering firm somewhere in the world, why not tell us that?

Given the potential for this item to blow up big time and cost Jeep lots and lots of $$$$$$'s in claims and new car sales if they don't get it right, surely it would be just good customer service to stop taking a legal perspective and just have someone in customer service say something like -
"To all the new WK2 owners who we have disappointed and disadvantaged by not clearly advising our dealers and you our valued customers of the change to the 2012 WK2 chasis and subsequently the removal of the vital recovery hooks from the front of the vehicle, we're sorry. We are doing everything we can as quickly and in line with all required safety standards to rectify this situation. regards Jeep Australia"
Even happy if Jeep Aus want to cut and paste this.

Why is something like this so hard? Again, getting a little suspicious that there may not actually be a solution, or the original solution has failed testing and now they're trying to work an alternative.

Scarps. By now you should have realised that Chrysler Aust don't give a damn after they get your money. I believe they even treat the dealers the same way.
They think that for once they have a good product, and as long as they wave the "WOW" flag, and pretend they like dogs and surf kiteing, their products will sell themselves.
From that point onwards, they can simply direct every complaint to the dealership and make them the Bad Guys.

Sorry if this is a duplication, but ECB (Australia) now offer a Big Tube bullbar for the 2012. Here's the link.

Congratulations to ECB for being so quick. However, if there is one thing we like about our Jeeps it's the grill. ECB have designed a bullbar with no regard whatever for the Jeep's styling. With that bullbar the Jeep is almost indistinguishable from a Prado, heaven forbid. Also, they have two recovery hooks but then they say that they are unrated. Why provide recovery hooks then qualify them as unrated. Can they be used or not?

I do not know why you are telling me this, as this is what I am also telling everyone.
As I have said in my previous post, unless you all start to make some formal complaints to the Dept of Fair Trading, Jeep will keep dragging this on.
I am not affected by this, but I would be kicking up a huge stink if I was.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

I am not certain it is his email address, I just went on the naming policy that Chrysler seem to use. DoFT is the best way to get a response, but only after lodging a formal complaint with the Customer support number. Make sure you make a note of the date and time and who you spoke to. Just in case they deny you have tried to deal with them directly. It makes them look worse if they take no action.
