Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Lets get some ground work done on fair-trading complain.

Can some one start writing a draft complain (my English and grammar not the best). Once the template is in place we can use the copy template paste to fair trading online submission system.

http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Ab...complaint.html

Who should be the respondent for fair trade complain ? Your Jeep Dealer or Jeep Australia?

Execellent idea and the same thought has crossed my mind. Chrysler Aust, Jeep Aust or Dealer!!!

I called Jeep Customer Care 1300 133 079 about these crazy navigation routes calc'd by the 2012 Overland navigation system and then asked about this recover hook issue.

Same story, told the solution will be available soon but who pays for it (at this stage) is likely to depend on date of ordering and me and my dealer.

At this stage my dealer is not responding to the emails from me on the subject as such FAIR TRADING looks like the go.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

The persons you lodge a complaint with Fair Trading about is the company ACN on your receipt/order.
That will be your dealer.
One thing you need to note with Fair Trading. They are basically a toothless tiger, with very little ability to do more than lodge statistics with the Govt and "try" to influence the respondent.
Class claims will not work with Fair Trading. However, if multi claims are lodged, all for the same matter, it may raise a few eyebrows for thiose receiving those statistics.

You may gain more influence in raising the matter with one of the TV stations current affair programs. To get their interest, you would most likely need a list of claiments names and addresses, which would not be easy in a forum environment.
My suggestion, at this point in time, is to wait until end of first week of June, then if nothing happens, firstly bombard Jeep's website with comments about the lack of towhooks. Then look at the other options.

I agree with scraps so I edited this post and removed my thoughts. I intend to keep chipping away at them on Facebook.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

It's taken me a while to solve, but when I stepped back and looked for possible solutions, I suddenly realised the answer to this conundrum was right under my nose all the time.
Cost me $5k, plus annual registration and insurance costs, but at least I can go off road this weekend.
Sadly, my fantastic new WK2 Laredo Deisel will have to be just like Jim's first horse in 'Man from Snowy River'.
No, not shot. Just left in the corral at home looking pretty for now.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Apologies if this has been mentioned previous, but just looked across the WK2 forum and "Members Rides" and noticed most of the new cars in the US are also missing recovery hooks in lieu of the blanking plates we have on our 2012's. Just a thought, but if the companies biggest customer base are not kicking up a fuss about the vehicle no longer being truly fit for purpose (as a true offroader that is), I doubt the factory would bother designing up a modification for a market as small as ours. Would anybody know if any of our US friends on the forum are affiliated with the factories design team to check that the modification works promised to us Aus guys are actually underway?

No its just an option over there - All US ORAII packages come with two front hooks and 1 rear hook.

That is my understanding also. In the US the recovery hooks are optional extras. They were a standard feature in AUS. Also remember that in the US these vehicles are much much cheaper than what we are paying.

Additionally, they can purchase the hooks anytime afterwards and fit them. We cannot because of the design change to the front end of our vehicles.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Hi All, Jeep Australia have started editing and removing our comments on their FB page. Sad that they can find time to do this, but they can't find time to just tell us what's going on and even just say sorry guys for the inconvenience we've caused you.
Plus they must think we're dumb. Simple strategy and using the power of Facebook.
If they edit or remove another one of my posts, I'm just going to ask all of my FB friends to put a post up there for me. Suggest you do the same.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Everyone of my posts that have been removed, I just re-added them.

There is a site, http://www.notgoodenough.org/ which could be used to spread the word.
Also, there is no stopping anyone from putting up a website to furthr advertise the facts.
I am posing messages on the Jeep Facebook site every few days about th tow hooks, and will continue to do so until they announce a free solution.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

My thought about the latest competition. "ultimate search engine" is false advertising. Similar to apple having to change the 4g, jeep should change their slogan to tarmac and light country road search engine.

Anyone know which body asked apple to change their advertising and how one would go about making a complaint. I believe until they have a tow hook solution (retrofitted free to those affected or available as an option to new buyers now) this slogan is misleading.
