On the presumption that a replacement for the driver's side is not available. My guess is that if it was longer you couldn't use the cover and hence the look of the vehicle from the front may have been somewhat odd and uneven, especially in comparison to the 2011.

To me it seems Chrysler / Jeep Australia chose the cheaper solution to remedy the situation by providing us with one that can be hidden so as to avoid complaints and to avoid supplying us with two.

Clearly once this solution is installed we then have a screw in tow eye and setup on the drivers side that is completely redundant and of no use whatsoever.

The air dam is removed on both of these vehicles (Unless they lost them during the hill decent!!)

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

So I had a recovery hook fitted today and I can confirm that the photos posted here are correct. The hook does sit well inside the facia.

Fitted free of charge by my dealer.

I still dont understand why Chrysler have made this so hard and refused to talk to customers properly during development - but that is big corporations for you I guess - they have no idea.

Compared to what I had yesterday, i.e. nothing, I'm happy.

It probably isn't ideal for full on recovery in a serious disaster but it will do me and my light off road use and on the beach. Touch wood, hopefully I'll never have to use it.

I'm going to keep an eye on the development of the nudge bar over the next month or so.

Time to ring your dealer.

Would you mind letting us know who your dealer is ? Being a positive thing it shouldn't matter to them.

If you check the spec you will see that they have described the bull-bar hooks as "unrated". The Jeep one is clearly rated at 4,500kg. So you need to think of the insurance implications and how much you trust ECB quality.

The manual says to remove the air-dam to improve the approach angle when going off-roading. No way am I going to expose the radiator, tranmission cooler, inter-cooller and aircon evaporator like that.
