Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

My understanding is that Chrysler Australia are not taking responsibility for the cost of the hooks and dumping on the dealers to exercise their good will, or not.

My dealer read the bulletin he received from Chrysler Australia over the phone when I spoke to him the other day. Essentially, any claims put in under the goodwill provisions I.e. orders before 20 January will be scrutinized by Chrysler and they will examine the paperwork to ensure the orders were actually placed prior to the cut off date.

My dealer is going to wear the cost as I ordered after the cut off date, but it sucks that C.A. are being such tightarses. The reality is they have probably sold no more than a few hundred 2012 JGCs. Maybe half of those will never leave the Tarmac and wouldn't need nor want the tow hook, subtract those owners that qualify for the goodwill and you wouldn't be talking more than a hundred or so owners that are being left out in the cold. Given they've had their best quarterly sales ever according to their website, it is just pathetic they are not doing it for free for all affected owners that request it.

I'm sure you know that Customer Service Manager is actually business code for "Litigation Minimisation Officer".

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

So I'm stumped...

I tried to attach a snatch strap to the recovery hook today. I'll be blowed if I can get the loop on the end of the snatch strap over the end of the hook. The strap is too thick and there is not enough room to get your hand in the hole. I'm worried if I pull hard and do get the strap on I won't be able to get it back off again...

My snatch strap is just a normal TJM strap - nothing special so I assume the loop is no thicker than any other.

Has anyone actually got a snatch strap on the hook successfully?

You have confirmed my thought concerns as I still haven't seen one in the flesh. You probably will need to use a rated D shackle, this may damage the front skirt. It might be a good idea to take it off before 4wding.
