Must have been a Blackhawk then. Probably a MY11.

After some investigation I figured a potential way around to fit Mopar/US style tow hooks. Replace the front bumper support bar with a support bar that has holes to secure the front end of the tow hook. This support bar must be the same part # used in 2011 GC or a Trailhawk GC. If this modification works / if its legal etc etc I don’t know.
That is the exact question that I asked the dealer today. He is going to look into it.

Just remove the bottom trim of your front bumper bar.

Then have a look at how the jeep supplied tow point attaches and once you see that you would never use it

I value my life too much i would never use it, its just show.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

All the '11's came with them, as I have 2 lovely hooks on the front. I would be willing to swap my car with a WK SRT8 if anyone wants to go offroad with recovery hooks

Anything to piss off the scrotes.

Mine's a '13. I wish I could say I made the bracket myself, but I barely get time to scratch my arse. Got one of the road contractors who fix our cattle grids to do it
You Sir, are hilarious. Ooops... I mean Officer. A great solution... would your road contractor like to make a pair up for my MY14

I was pointed to this thread regarding my new purchase and am pretty bummed out to reach the end and find there's no pearls of wisdom for my situation. Are there any solutions lurking about undocumented or tucked away elsewhere? I guess it's time to search

Cheers,
Steve

Unfortunately barboots, there is no solution. Dealers are clueless and jeep aus just don't care.

There is apparently one dealer who is working with a customer to try and come up with something - but the silence at the moment is deafening.

There is a fellow who has started a new business and apparently is developing aftermarket recovery hooks, but only prototypes at the moment.

Enjoy your Jeep..... Just not off road.

There really is nothing to do except wait for an aftermarket solution to become available.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Oh well, it's a good thing I kept my Prado

If no one is close to a solution I might have to throw some time at it. I've been very unwell and was tricked out of my job as consequence, but I'm getting better and definitely have the capacity to design a solution and subcontract manufacturing out.

I'm not going to allow this blase attitude to the needs of the local market dictate limitations regarding my use of the vehicle. A 4WD without a recovery facility is an oxymoron... these tools might as well delete the transfer case as well

Actually seeing the vehicle with the lower bumper removed makes me think it needs a turned up skid pan which incorporates recovery points. How much could the market tolerate paying for that level of hardening up?

Cheers,
Steve

G'day Steve, my dealer is waiting for Chrysler to come up with a solution, but taking a look at this thread and how long it took for a solution on the '12, don't hold your breath.

One request that I do have when making your solution, can you try include the OEM tow hooks in the design? I was hoping to keep my GC functionality and look as close to the US product. I love the look of their tow hooks and they appear to be much more user friendly with regards to fitting straps. It's a pity that you aren't in Sydney, I would be around at your place tomorrow with a set to see what could be done.

Good luck, it might be worth approaching Jeep AU if you come up with a solution and selling it to them.

It is my experience that Jeep Aus will not volunteer to do anything. I would suggest that MY14 owners will need to become a very squeaky wheels.
