You mean the Overland Max Steel.
The Limited in Max Steel had a fault for ages, the wrong wheels and the steering wheel on the wrong side. They have finally fixed it.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

I'm happy to announce Chief Products is almost finished with our recovery hooks for the WK2! The original hooks we designed (link), which were almost an exact copy of the stock hooks, surprisingly didn't pass engineering certification. Since that time, we've performed FEA testing on 10 design iterations, making changes along the way to increase strength, improve ease of installation and lower manufacturing costs. Well after all that work, I'm happy to announce we've finally passed certification. I'm really happy with the final product. We've taken the time to make sure these are 100% correct and I think it shows in the final product.

We will be offering 2 versions:

WK2 Recovery Hooks - Front (pair)
2500kg SWL (Safe Working Load) Engineer Certified
7500kg MBS (Minimum Breaking Strength) Engineer Certified

WK2 Recovery Points - Front (pair)
4500kg SWL (Safe Working Load) Engineer Certified
13500kg MBS (Minimum Breaking Strength) Engineer Certified

I had the engineer do some 3D renderings for me so everyone could get a sneak peak. The manufacturer is currently working on the prototype and pricing. I'm hoping to have more information for everyone very soon.

Yep, it's safe to say that this thread is going to swell at least 20 pages with "count me in for a set" posts.

Hopefully the price remains accessible.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

So what colours do they come in? Put me down for a pair of chromies.

My WK2 has a GVM of 2,949kg. It is recommended that snatch straps have a MBS of 2 to 3 times the vehicle's GVM, that is, between 5,900kg and 8,800kg. The commonly available snatch strap in that range is the 8,000kg MDS. Remember a snatch strap should match the vehicle, too weak and it will snap, too strong and it will damage the vehicle. So that would make the 7,500kg MBS hook about right. Even better if one uses both hooks with a distribution strap. The 4,500kg SWL towing eyes would be good for heavy winch recovery. One could lift the entire vehicle in the air with just one of them.

Note that these hooks are Engineer Certified, that is to say, they are rated. AFAIK, neither of the bull bars currently available have rated recovery points.

So, do I get a bull bar or the hooks? Hmmm...
