It's you and me both in the December issue, pp22-23. BTW, the month that Fiat Chrysler Aust. referred to was October 2013 so iboughtajeep and Barboots are right.

Ahhh... The usual "In a Month" statement from Jeep.
Jeep Australia use a different calender than the rest of the world and think a month = infinity.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

I went and spent my money and got a copy of 4x4 Australia. As you say, Karla Leach is quoted as saying recovery hooks for the MY14 will be available in October. So for a bit of sport I might make enquiries with a couple of dealers and see if they have any details. Wish me luck!

Hmmm, flicking through 4x4 Australia they have a write up on the new Cherokee - wonder if it is going to come with recovery hooks like all the photos?

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Dang! I am one of the suckers that just bought the pair of Mopar front hooks off Ebay ( said they are compatible with MY2014).. Went to fit them today and no go! Hence then found this forum. There are no predrilled holes to attach the spacer bracket that secures the front of the hook. It's not just a matter of drilling holes either. There is not enough space for all the hardware to fit together. Contacting the seller to see if they have any solution.
Anyone had any luck / solutions yet?

My understanding is that the MY 14 have the same front chassis as MY 12 - 13
Australian chassis are from what i have been lead to believe shorter than the USA front chassis
So the normal recovery points will not fit
Jeep australia are much debate and slowness released a recovery point for us but a huge costs we think it was made by "best NZ"
I have found it unsuitable as it is too far in side the front air dam area and will more then likely tear off that part of the front bumper if used

Cheif products have now made one that looks better and we are all waiting with baited breath for them to release it for sale.

Some pictures of the new recovery points

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

We received our prototypes this week and I'm really happy with how they turned out. We've got a few minor tweaks to make before production, but these are pretty close to what the final product will look like.

We haven't set the pricing yet, but I expect it to be near what the dealer charges ($270 per side). I was hoping it would be less, but putting out a quality product with such a limited manufacturing run, obviously puts limits on how low we can get the price. Even so, I'm working with the manufacturer on ways to reduce the manufacturing costs further before we go into production, so that price may still come down a bit.

I hope to have more information for everyone regarding price and availability very soon. I expect to have the Chief Products website up-and-running to take orders in the next 2-3 weeks.

Normally I wouldn't release this information until everything was settled and ready-to-go, but I figured everyone here on the forums deserves to have a small peak behind the scenes.

Cheers,
Bill

It's not shown in the photos, but high tensile (8.8) corrosion resistant mounting hardware will be included.

Does anybody have the contact details for Jeep Australia or Karla Leach? I figured I'd contact them and see where things stand.

Cheers,
Bill

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Looks good, I'd probably be more interested in these than the Jeep Australia version. When I get my GC that is.....

I'd be interested to see how these sit on a 2014 GC.......

Respect Bill, very good job.
Out of interest does the mounting hardware mentioned above require drilling and modifications to the chassis or is it based on existing mounting points?

FYI DVG Jeep in Melville WA are swearing they can get the Tow Hooks from Jeep fitted for around $600. I've got my car booked in for some rock rails in a couple weeks to get fitted with them and I've been tempted to let them try the Tow Hooks while they're at it...

Bill, Interested!

Keep us updated with your Jeep booked at Melville also - Incase they are correct by their swear.

Maddington Spares swear they can only get the one side fitted @$340. The Left hand side must remain for tow hook.
