The change may have already started? There's probably a bit of old Laredo/Limited stock to sell off before we see them arrive fitted.
I'm not concerned whether they are black red or chrome - I just need them to work without damaging the cars the strap or the people using them.

So the retrofit option is available to current MY14 owners or has there been another design change to accommodate these Tow Hooks?

FYI - I was informed that the Aussie GC's will come fitted with these as "standard equipment" later this year (MY2015?).
Well that is confusing, I thought it was well established that this part number #82212095 would not fit an export MY14. But now they do, have they changed the front end again?

I'll be very interested to see how the fitting goes.

If Jeep Australia has had Jeep change the front end to now accommodate Jeeps recovery points is fantastic
But again JA is not being open with their customers and again treating us like mushrooms.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

I guess it isn't a huge change, they just need those 4 holes in the cross member and the part should fit. I wonder why JA didn't instruct dealers to just drill these in the first place, rather than getting the best bars version made up? I wonder if Benaldo's dealer is doing this with JA's knowledge, or they are just doing what most frustrated JGC owners haven't dared to do.

edit: Ok..... reading a bit more it seems there was also a shortening of the front chassis horn from 2012 onwards, on at least one side, that prevents these hooks fitting properly. It will be interesting to see if that is still the case on the MY14. The chassis horn should look like this, right up to the cross member where the 2 holes are missing:

Thanks for the response - can you tell me....
Year/model of the vehicle photographed?
What do you refer to as the chassis "horn"? and how was it shortened?

I am pretty sure my 2014 chassis rails continue until they meet the cross member channel - same both sides, I will double check against my car tonight. You can see some photos of my 2014 GC chassis in post #748.

I agree with Benn0 - this is soooo confusing. The front tow hook info from Jeep dealers (and Jeep Garage members) is inconsistent with respect to 2014 cars. The same cannot be said for info on 2012-13 vehicles. I could make assumptions as to the reasons for this (but we know what you get when you ASS U+ME!)
All will be revealed when they fit ..........or don't. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

That pic was borrowed from an old US installation write up:
WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

My car is arriving in March, hopefully, so I'm interested in which hooks I can fit.

I haven't seen any pics of the shortening of the chassis horn (the rail that the main bracket bolts onto), but reading Bill Mackin's and Scarp's posts in the AJOR thread it seems at some stage the chassis was shortened in their opinions, but they were looking at pre-MY14 models as far as I can tell.
WK2 2012 - Recovery hooks - AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM - AJOR

So your pic is probably the first I've seen of the mount point for a MY14, and they do look like they are the full length, just missing the smaller holes that hold the hook straight.

Bill Mackin from Cheif Products is doing a test install of his hooks next week, it will be interesting to see if he gets a MY14 and if the position is different to the 2012/13 models.

Your fitting will be interesting too, let us know how you go. You may be the first to have got OEM tow hooks fitted???

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Ok, someone did post a pic of the shortened chassis horn:

No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

"Knew I had a photo here somewhere. You can see here that the "bumper support bar" or whatever we're calling it bends back towards the car on '12-13 "pedestrian safe" models (haven't seen a '14 but assuming its the same judging by everyone's comments) whereas the '11 and US model bar goes straight across. And therein lies the problem. You could possibly drill holes, but they won't come close to lining up with your hooks anyway."

Might need a wider shot of your mount point to see if it does the same thing.....

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

You can see from this US model pic, the cross member (that supports the bumper and that the 2 holes would need to be drilled in) is a lot straighter, this seems to be the problem with fitting the hook....
