Remove the bolt behind it Matty (ie: to the rear of vehicle).

Edit: Ooops. I see your dilemma. I thought mine was the same but it wasn't...

Cheers,
Steve

Is that a bolt and washer on the back holding the threaded insert in?

Looks hard to get a set of large Vise-Grips over it to apply torque. Maybe a pry bar between the rounded section and the frame it's captive in would be enough?

A tack weld or gas axe would sort it!

Cheers,
Steve

Looks to be a nut on the back, use the appropriate spanner on that, looking at the photo there is a hole in the middle of the shaft, put a pin punch or screw driver in that to stop the shaft turning

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

The issue I have is that the frame rail sits forward of the nut, so there's no room to fit a spanner, vise-grips or anything else onto the nut to apply leverage to undo it.

Might have to go buy a flexible ratchet spanner to get it undone.

Look here.

Nudge Bar - 2012+ ped safe - with recovery hook

Bolt in the rear of the tube then tube comes out forwards.

Regards

Adrian

Hi Matt,

I would've used either a socket set or a flexible ratchet spanner.

It is pretty tight from memory.

Kev.

Does anyone have any new info about the tow hooks from Chief Products. Their website is still under construction and there are no message updates on Facebook.

Unfortunately no. I was not able to get a reply from Global and none of the shackles I already have will fit. The cut out in the MY12 bumper does not appear to be as big as the MY14, so even if I could get a shackle that went over the recovery hook, I doubt it would fit through the cut out. It just all seems too tight.

Next time I'm near the 4x4 shop ill have another crack at finding a shackle that will fit.

Very frustrating to say the least.
