The 3rd picture is the 5mm slot that had to be grinded off the front part of the Jeep, to fit the passenger recovery point. Installation was really simple, even with the little bit of grinding.
Thumbs up Chief.

Can't quite work out where that is. Guess I'll find out when mine arrive.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

I picked up the bash plate and recovery point the other day. planned to do it after work today. But ended up wasting 45min trying to figure out how to remove the front air dam . 7 twist round clips then a bit of pulling and yanking at it without trying to damage the bumper eventually popped off. After figuring that out, decided to rinse underneath car from the weekend beach run before putting the bash plate on. plenty of sand stuck in the stock bash kit set and the rock sliders. By then it was dark. so won't be done till tomorrow arvo

Hi TJQLD,

The installation shouldn't require any grinding. I can't quite make out what part is in photo #3, but my guess is that you've got the top mounting plate backwards, which would create that problem. I sent you an email to clarify. I've also updated our installation instructions to make that a bit more clear. I've actually had that top plate backwards a few times myself.

I hope that helps!

Cheers,
Bill

Here are some photos that show the slight difference. When correctly installed the plates should all line up at the back.

Looks like the trick is to make sure the plates all align at the back end?

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

My hooks and bash plate arrived today. Bill said there would be something extra in it for me because I was the first to order and made a couple of suggestions earlier on. One of the suggestions was that the hooks come in chrome versions. You guessed it! I got a pair of chromies. Check out the photo. WOW and double WOW! Thanks Bill! As Bill explains, these are a one-off, polished to bare metal, heavily copper plated then chromed. Something tells me there will be more than a few requests for these.

The quality of the hooks is supurb. They are of 25mm plate and weigh 3.5kg each without the fittings, 7.1kg with fittings. My arm was getting sore holding one up for the photo. When I get the Jeep hook off I'll take a pic of them side by side. Packaging and instructions are first class. Can't wait to get under the car.

I got the 3mm bash plate. It's more than adequate for my kind of driving and is on par with the ORA pack skid plates. I love the bolt protectors. What a brilliant idea. It's what people in the quality services industry call a delighter. The sachet of anti-seize is also a nice touch (also included with the hooks). However, I would prefer loctite rather than anti-seize. I'm more concerned with nuts coming off when they shouldn’t than not coming off when they should but that's just me.

My missus has told me there is a package at home for me too - might leave work early. And your hooks are FANCY BobT. Look forward to a photo once you have fitted those chromies.
