The export assembly line builds cars for europe, so I assume they are building left and right hand drive cars. The Oz cars were initially on the US production line (which is why they had the original hooks initially).

2011-2013 XAU008220WKH - SINGLE HOOK PASSENGER SIDE
2014 AUSWK14HOOK - SINGLE HOOK PASSENGER SIDE

if your dealer has a pair - he might have the old MY11 version.
Did a lunchtime call to the dealership and spoke to the parts Dept.
They have sold a pair already to another MY14 owner and have not heard anything back. They are going to give him a call to check they fitted ok and then call me back to confirm.

They don't fit the Australian delivered vehicles.

To throw a spanner in the works, it seems some vehicles built for NZ (so apparently on the US assembly line) made their way to Australia, and these hooks do fit those cars..... so maybe that owner had a NZ car.

The difference in the cars is that for the Europe and Australia cars the front cross member angles back to allow room for foam packing (pedestrian safe). The US and NZ cars have a cross member that runs straight across, which is where these hooks screw in to.

The robots build whatever configuration is scheduled for that VIN. The parts supply chain is also programmed accordingly. The only thing the assembly line can't change easily is the vehicle platform. These are the wonders of Lean manufacturing and Just-in-Time scheduling. Unfortunately once the dealers get involved, everything falls apart.

BennO is correct - that part number won't fit Aus GC. So turns out the dealer is in fact an idiot!

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Man the other customer is going to spew acid when he has removed the front bumper valance and realises that they don't fit!

I guess there's a chance he has a Kiwi delivery... maybe one in, oh, a few thousand.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Finally got around to getting some hooks installed.
Purchased these off a forum member on another forum as he went the Uneek bullbar route.

I know there'll be questions..............lol.

Identical P/N off the US site.
Yep I'm convinced it won't fit.
It will be interesting to see if I get a call back. I'd say not!

That was going to end in tears... though I didn't think they'd be mine from laughing

I like their boundless optimism that there was even a minuscule chance of making it through the obstacle in the first place. Fun guys!

Cheers,
Steve
