Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Classic! Trying to snatch with a cable
It looks as if it was a 2WD model. Either that or he didn't know he had 4WD which begs the question, "What was he doing there?"

Tie down point not a rated recovery point and using a wire rope with no give is simply stupid

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

My Chief recovery hooks arrived today, thanks Bill.

Geez there is some serious weight in these things.... gives you some confidence about being snatched by one.... When I finally get it on the GC I'll need to get myself bogged so I can make use of them.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Spotted this MY14 limited in an Adelaide dealership today with chrome tow hooks.
The vehicle was an NZ spec that made it to Australia.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Not sure if these have been posted on this thread before. The thread is so long.....

The recovery hooks on the Uneek nudge bar for the WK2 are pretty decent. They are unrated but I would have no hesitation using them in a recovery situation.

So how does this pass ADR compliance? Just shows its all a joke and Jeep Australia is run by people who have NFI.

What a waste being on an Overland.

Just so everyone knows there is nothing in the ADR's for pedestrian compliance that would stop the Australian GC from having the front tow hooks, there was talk Australia would adopt EU standards for pedestrian safety, we did not or have not yet, it was jeep AU's decision to delete the front tow hooks, now they are just making up BS to cover their mistake

When i had my service done at Waitara on Wed that just went past sitting in the service yard was a NSW registered MY14 Limited with the factory black Jeep tow hooks. I took a few pictures (not with me now) and it looks like the steel bumper reinforcement is the US spec version.

I walked over to new car sales and had a chat to my salesman telling him of this and i am now hoping and waiting for the owner to contact me so i can find out more about part numbers for said parts.

The salesman told me they received a couple of these cars with tow hooks, they were NZ cars, and they were whisked away off the lot within one hour of getting there when Jeep AU found out.

Now my dilemma:
1. Get the Chief hooks.
2. Get the Jeep AU expensive hooks, then fabricate a right side bracket.
3. Replace the steel bumper reo with the US / NZ spec and fit the factory hooks.
4. Replace the steel bumper reo with the RRO winch bumper, fit the factory hooks and have the ability to fit a winch that is hidden.

Don't want a bull bar hence why i didn't add to my list.

Will any option above make the car non ADR compliant (ADR 69/00 and 73/00), are you on your own if involved in an accident?
Will a engineers certificate help?
