-What do I plasti-dip next.
-Look at my spacers!
-You need a truck to tow
-Cant wheel in a WK2
-Should I buy snow tyres to get in my driveway.
-Diesels are yuck
-Woo guns!
-I paid 50k for an Overland, boohoo

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Uneek rating is a concern for me, 3000kgs for each hook, combined thats less than your regular 8k snatch strap.

MUCH prefer the weight though, 4kgs for the two vs 13.5 for the chief units, I wonder if thats a misprint?

Id much prefer the heavier units. General rule of thumb is, heavier = stronger when it comes to fabricated steel products.

Yep, the Chief units are rated to at least 50% stronger depending on how its rated/read.

I have these, just wish they were lighter given where they are.

I was sure they wouldn't be rate but glad to see there are. However Snake makes a very valid point. OK, two hooks, that makes 6,000kg but still, if something was to give, I'd rather be hit in the back of the head by half a snatch strap than the strap with hooks and shackles attached.

Re: No tow hooks? Front Recovery Soluition help

Just finished installing the RRO winch bar. no winch yet but I now have the stock Jeep hooks.
I am happy with how much steel are holding them on. The chief hooks are only held on with 2 bolts. The Jeep hooks are mounted using the same 2 in addition to another 2 at the front bolted to the winch bar which is bolted on with another 7 bolts each side.

The stock jeep hooks have been fully tested for strength, so I wouldn't have any problems using them if they fit. But it is a 2 piece attachment, the hook sits into a bracket, and the bracket is bolted to the chassis horn. That bracket doesn't look super strong to me, but I'm sure it works.

What those 2 bolts at the front do provide over the Chief hooks is better lateral strength.
