maybe we should add a thread on not only what off road 18s can be used but pricing on them as well, that way we can see who's getting ripped off and where and how much to bargain them down by.
Yokies/Bob Jane have a 4 for 3 Deal ATM here in Perth which brings them down to about $315 each while the Hankooks walk in are $288 and the Goodyears $460

Re: Off Road 18"s

I was quoted $335 per tyre fitted for the Hankook ATM LT275/65R18

I like the tread pattern, I was close to going with those.

An update on my ST Maxx: I'm finding their on road behaviour quite good so far. Braking and cornering around town are good, road noise starts to be noticeable over 60kph, and at it's worst around 80kph. At 100kph the pitch of the noise matches the wind noise, so sort of blends in with that.

I have found that over 100kph steering is less responsive, so if I'm at 110kph and drifting towards the line marking and I go for some subtle steering correction the car doesn't respond, I have to feed in a bit more than I would expect to get it to straighten. And then it over corrects. I think it is the luggy shoulder on these tyres that is to blame for that. Just a compromise I guess. Back around 100kph or slower I don't see this happen at all.

Re: Off Road 18"s

A word of warning on Cooper Zeon LTZ tyres. The quality of these tyres are not in question but Cooper have a hide calling them LTZ. The implication to any reasonable person is that these are LT tyres. They are not and Cooper don't claim they are. They call them "...a hybrid between a sports truck tyre and an all-terrain tyre.". No doubt Cooper will claim that the designation LTZ alludes to them being "hybrid LT" tyres whatever that is. I think they are having a bit of a lend of us here. The tyres are actually XL (extra load) tyres. That is, they are passenger tyres with strengthening to allow higher loads.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Any reports on the Dick Cepek Trail Country tyres. Can get them in either 265/60R18 or 265/65R18. Dick Jane quoted me for the second size at $355 per tyre. Apparently great tyre, come out of the cooper factory. Has anyone had these before or heard reports. Otherwise I am looking at the BFG AT TA's in the 265/65R18.

Thanks

Okay, so it pays to ring another BJ franchise!! The second dealer tells me the Dick Cepek isn't a LT construction in that size!! So ditched that idea. Quoted me on the BFG's at $500, I mentioned Tempe had them at $360 and he matched (but fitting extra) so $390 which is what Lindsays at Mt Evelyn will do them for!! Closer to home (Box Hill) so will take them around there when the car arrives.

Can anyone tell me which model Michelin comes on the laredo?? Want to get a price, will put those on ebay once I change them out and want a starting price for them. Thanks.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Original tyres are P265/60R18 Michelin Latitude Tour All-Season.

I got a $500 price quoted on the DCs too, so didn't bother, might as well get Coopers.

Thanks Benno, Bob Jane quoted $355 for the DC's! Ring around the different franchises. First BJ's wouldn't go any lower than $500 for the BFG's and the second matched the $390. Pays to ring around!!

I'll get a price on the latitudes and drop it by half to sell the lot. That should pay for a couple of the BFG's!!

Off Road 18"s

Interested in upgrading to AT tyres on the 18's, but have already done 800km on the stock ones, so would I have any chance of trading them in at a tyre dealer, or is it too late now?

Tempe Tyres in Sydney have BFG's for $339 each ATM, and that's fitted too.
