Dunno about your regular Jeeps, but on the SRT the TPMS valves are grey vs black for standard one on my spare.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Has anyone fitted a set of Hankook Dynapro's yet? Would love to see a picture and hear any feedback especially around noise and daily livability.

Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10 Tyres from $164

Re: Off Road 18"s

Interesting. I tried my oem alloy in the wheel well, and while I have 265/65/18 BFG's on, it wasn't the tyre that caused the problem - the spokes hit a bulge at the rear of the well. It fitted with the outside of the wheel "up" but then you can't get the jack etc in. I don't know why the bulge is there - does yours have that GMWK2?

Re: Off Road 18"s

What about using a few cable ties to hold the jack and handles to the inside of the rim, then fit the rim face up as you mention?

Re: Off Road 18"s

Do others keep the original jack and the foam block it sits in. It takes up heaps of space and I can't work out how else to store it. Thinking of replacing it with a bottle jack....?

Re: Off Road 18"s

Having had one mishap with using an alternative jack, I'll probably keep the OEM one handy. You'd need to modify a bottle jack or make an "intermediate" for it to work safely and without damage on the front... unless you can find a suitable alternative location to lift the car. This is where I farked up with my trolley jack...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Off Road 18"s

ok, because it has that notch in it for the front seam? It's different when you put rock rails on, it bolts onto the seam, actually not sure where I'll be putting the jack now.

I've just gone with the BFG 265/65/18 on the steel rim for the spare. Fits in the well with the tubs removed. I figure I will rotate the four on the road and leave the spare as just that. My lease is for 4 years and looking to have the tyres well and truly go the distance without having to replace them before turnover. Will sell them with the car. The jack and bits all fit nicely. Have a bit of space in and around the tyre to squeeze in other bits I carry.

I must say, the BFG's look great on the car, much better than the stock Michelins. Give the car an "edgy" look!

Re: Off Road 18"s

Hmmm OK... so you have to cross that bridge anyway. I wonder if a "nylon (HDPE) hat" which fits over the top of a typical bottle jack and is shaped to fit the main "rail" profile of the substructure could be the answer?

Cheers,
Steve

The rails have these squares cut into them, not sure it is strong enough to jack there though. But I did have a piece of pine with the original jack up against the rock rail when I was fitting them. They take a bit of force to get them to line up, the rear wheel was almost lifted by the time I had it lined up with the screw holes, so I would say the rails are plenty strong enough to jack, just don't want anything to slip.
