Australia is the cash cow for most companies. Tyres are just the tip of the iceberg as to things we pay more for. Even itunes is more expensive then what the USA pay for it.

Re: Off Road 18"s

What he said, it's called the Australia tax, and companies do it because they can get away with it..... I guess it's because its somewhat of a closed market here for a lot of products, a lot of stuff is imported with exclusive rights, etc.

Sorry! I try to remain objective but I admit, looks inevitably come into it in the final analysis.

Bob you let an "aggressive" fly straight past you ;-)

I had to take my 18" ATs off and refit the original 20" HTs. The constant jeering and itching for a fight was too much for me... it happened almost every time someone walked past the car.

Apparently great tyre, come out of the cooper factory. Has anyone had these before or heard reports. Otherwise I am looking at the BFG AT TA's in the 265/65R18.

Thanks
I;ve had these for 10K now

Great on the black stuff

Good in the wet

Dirt roads seem ok

Very quite

Mud/Clay - they do not clean very well (compared to Duratracs, MTR in the past)
llack of any decent sidebiters (not on part with BFG AT/TA)

But cheap

FWIW, Cooper owns Dick Cepek and Mickey Thompson.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Would any body be able to confirm what I was told last night when inquiring about 18" tyre prices?
Apparently since my Summit has the sticker stating the tyre size is 265/50R20 it is illegal and will void insurance if I put anything smaller on
He said that I am allowed to go a % bigger than the size on the sticker but cannot go to anything smaller

Re: Off Road 18"s

They are talking about smaller overall tyre diameter, but you can put smaller diameter rims on, as long as the outer tyre diameter is the same as the original or up to 2 inches larger.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Thanks guys, that was always my understanding - Overall diameter

Will go back next week and talk to them again
He did say that they had just completed a new training course, and there had been amendments just introduced
And he was definitely referring to the Rim size and not the overall trye diameter?

But I can not find anything to back his statements up?
Since there is nothing really comparable in a 20" Off Road he was basically doing himself out of a sale if incorrect?

Do the Limited and Overland have both sizes on the compliance sticker, or are they the same as the Summit and only state the 20"?
