I have 275/65R18 with General Grabber ATs, and a standard set of 20"s. It's therefore hard to make comparisons of potential contact. I do suspect that Entry/Exit will be no-go... unless you keep your wheels straight!
What wheel are you running the 275/65/18's on?

My main concern is Entry/Exit mode. Hoping to still be able to use it.

Re: Off Road 18"s

The other problem you might need to watch for is the tyre hitting the rear inner guard. This happened several times on undulating rural roads at speed, when the Quadralift had forced Aero height. There's scope to pin the felt liner back a bit to improve clearance. The slightly narrower, slightly taller tyre might not hit... especially if it doesn't have such a square shoulder. It is tight back there though...

Re: Off Road 18"s

I reckon that turning in Entry/Exit mode while moderately articulating the suspension is going to be a gen-u-ine problem with an aspect ratio of 70. If you're careful it may be OK? It also depends on the exact tyre shape, as they do vary...

Looking to run this on my vehicle but looking for additional thoughts before pulling the trigger.
I recall reading that the BFG A/T KO's in 265/65R18 on OEM wheels will rub the fender lining so a 70 profile will certainly rub.

There is also the issue of gearing. The stock Kumho 265/60R18 has an OD of 775mm whereas say the Bridgestone 265/70R18LT has an OD of 829mm. That gives a gearing of 6.7% taller. That probably doesn't mean much but if translated to torque it means the CRD's nominal max torque of 550Nm is reduced to effectively 514Nm. No problem if you like doing long lazy distances but not good for sand dunes or towing.

Yes, I run the 65 profile BFGs and they do rub on the front lining in entry/exit mode, and I suspect ocassionally in normal ride height on full lock. Plus I have an ARB bar, and they rub on that. Not enough to worry me though.
The BFGs have very square shoulders compared with most of the others though. However, I do think 70's would be a problem.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Got some new shoes on the Jeep over the weekend.

Hankook Dynapro RT03 in LT275/65R18

No rubbing that i can tell so far, still need to have a better look. They did need quite a bit of weight to balance and they are quite noisy (they are a MT tyre though).

Being the same rolling diameter as the 265/50/20's meant that the spare also fits in its spot with all the storage bins.
Hi,

How hard was it to paint the rims? What did you use and how are they holding up?

If they aren't noisy they aren't MT

Re: Off Road 18"s

Finally fitted my 18's.
Painted 'em gloss black, had some TPMS valves fitted. All worked as it should.

Just running stock sizing ATM but if (when) I need to replace them I'll be getting some BFG AT's in a 265/65x18.

My 20's are close to needing new tyres too so I'm thinking of going for a 275/45x20 tyre this time as there seems to be much more around.

They look great!

How hard was it to paint them and what did you use?

Re: Off Road 18"s

Wasn't hard to paint them, but I had the tyres off at the time.
You can still paint them with tyres on but you'll need to be careful masking up the tyre.
You will need to remove the wheels from the car.

I have a compressor and spray gun so I just used a gloss black 2K.
Here's the 20's I did last year. They are painted Jeep Brilliant Black but they have a couple of scratches on them so whilst they're off ATM I may repair and repaint them gloss black too.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Hi there I'm looking for a set of AT's for my 14 Laredo, and after reading this thread I have more questions than I started with!
My car has no QL, and I'd like to go as big a tyre as possible without compliance or performance issues coming into play.
LT construction seems to be the go. Can anyone here help me distill the best choice please? I'd also like to keep the price down if possible.
Thanks in advance
