Re: Off Road 18"s

After reviewing my options I went BF Goodrich 265/65/18's LT from Tempe Tyre's for $339 a side.

Re: Off Road 18"s

just put on x5 bridgestone d697 on the stock 18s to replace my stock kumho20s yesterday.

have to say they are no louder than the kumhos.handled the brisbane wet weather in the road just fine. noticed the ride was just a little bit more compliant soaking up the bumps just a little softer than the worn kumhos which have done 31k. (probably another 5k left in them as they were close to the tread indicator)

note the rear cargo lid doesn't click shut with the spare. sits up about 1cm . might bother some but I'm ok with it. haven't tried taking some air out of the spare to see if it clicks shut though.

overall quite happy with them in 265/60 114s light truck . paid $350 each from kmart tyre and auto.

Interesting that the floor doesn't shut. With a tiny bit of pressure, my 265/65/18 BFG on the steel spare allows the lid to close - and they have squarer shoulders too. I guess the bridgestones must bulge a bit more or something.
My plastic bins don't fit though.
I'm think of getting the 697's next time, as the BFGs have become quite noisy now they're half worn.

Re: Off Road 18"s

I have the same problem with the full sized spare. The space saver is ok though

Re: Off Road 18"s

I have a Cooper AT3 spare on a full size alloy spare - bins fit and the boot floor clicks shut - just.

Re: Off Road 18"s

With my 265/60R18 D697 full sized spare the lid sits slightly up but squashes down as soon as a bit of load is put on it. Without the bins out it's a bit better but even so it's not an issue. With a full sized passenger tyre the lid sits way up because they bulge so much more that LT tyres.

With my bins out the full size BFG fits perfectly and the lid closes easily. Reason I went with the BFG.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Guys are tyres mounted on the steel wheel or an alloy, I have 255/70/18. But the lid won't shut 100% and I think it has more to do with the alloy wheel.

When you say "full size", do,you mean alloy wheel or steel (as has been asked earlier)?. And if it's alloy, does it fit "outside down" so the Toolkit fits in the well? When I try to do that, the rim hits a hump at the rear of the spare wheel well ( which is there for a reason I can't determine). It will fit with the outside of the rim up, but then I have to find somewhere else for the jack etc.

Russell, my spare is a full sized BFG (same size as those on the car), however it's mounted on the black steel rim the spare came on. I've had to take the plastic storage bins out to make it fit, however the lid sits flat. One of the factors that swung me to the BFG was it was the only AT LT tyre reported on here that fitted where the lid sat flat.
