My bad... I actually converted 33.2 inches because I'm part-time dyslexic.

Apologies to the Android converter...

Anyone tried Atturo Tyres.

They do a LT275/65/R18. Has a 820mm dia. Atturo Tires - Atturo Trail Blade MT

Tempe Tyres have them for $240 each.

Re: Off Road 18"s

The same size block for every shoulder lug suggests that these could howl insanely at certain speeds. Irregular shoulder blocks have become the norm to avoid harmonic problems.

Re: Off Road 18"s

I met up with a guy down the coast a white ago he was running them on his lifted Laredo and he reckons they weren't that bad? Whatever that means.

I don't think staying out of the lowest ride height setting is going to be a solution, if you are using it off road there are plenty if situations where the suspension will be sitting on the bump stop with the wheels at full lock.

Good point.

I think I'll go the Maxxis Big Horn MT764 (275/65/R18). Bill from Chief Products was running them on his WK2 with only minor rubbing at the rear.

Been quoted $335 each for the Maxxis, price seems reasonable.

I'd definitely be interested to hear your thoughts on noise with these units.

Full mud tyre vs Cooper ST Maxx comparison.

They will be noisy, but don't care about noise as these will be on a second set of rims.

ST's were a $100 each more. Don't appear to be as aggressive but was told they have a stronger sidewall.

Re: Off Road 18"s

There's little chance of our vehicles contacting the bump stops during typical articulation. Maybe if you are smashing over something with velocity, but if your wheels are at full lock while doing this you'll soon have the opportunity to choose a more suitable vehicle.

If it was an issue for the tyre size under discussion, it would have evidenced itself over the last year and a half of my ownership.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Off Road 18"s

Use spacers only if you must. They increase sprung weight, affect steering geometry and increase load on the bearings.

LOL

Maybe one of these would do the trick.

Good hang time

Or one of these

Yeah i'm doing the two sets of rims arrangement at the moment, what are you doing for spare?

It's probably overkill but I just ordered a spare steel wheel, part # 68051987AC so that I can fit a similar overall diameter but thinner spare tyre and swap the appropriate overall diameter spare in to the vehicle each time I change wheels, without having any issues of where to put the jack, the rear closing or being concerned about the mismatch in diameter.

Additional spares (if ever required? Can't see why) would go on the roof for very remote and hard on tyres trips.
