Re: Off Road 18"s

Maybe it's the different spec between US and AU models?

Not by Saturday but this is where I got mine Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor - Item # 68078861AA, 68001696AB, 56029465AB, 56029359AC & 56029481AB #TPMSensor . Mind you, that was when it was still cheap to buy from the States. I've got identical wheels and tyres on the car, car spare, camper trailer and camper trailer spare, all with TPMS's. Whether the trailer TPMS's get picked up or not I don't know yet but at least they are there ready if I ever need a second spare. The idea being that I've effectively got two spares for the car and trailer without having to carry any more than the normal spares.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Just fitted Koya XJ6 18" rims and 275/65/18 General Grabber AT2's. Haven't been offroad yet but seem ok on the road. Little more noisier that the michelin H/T's from factory as expected but fill the guards well and look to only have a little scrubbing on the rear of front wheel wells.

Fitted a 255/70/18 Dueller H/T in the spare wheel well and just fits if putting g some pressure on the floor cover. Both trays and jack fit in too.

Hankook Dynapro 275/65R18 on Laredo alloy fits in spare wheel section, minus tubs and foam jack holder.
Initially the floor was up about 20mm. I then simultaneously shuffled the wheel forward and pushed down closest to rear.
Floor sits up about 5mm but it is latched in.

Re: Off Road 18"s

I have BFG all-terrains on my 2014. 265/65/18's. When they were new road noise was not a problem. Since they got to about half worn, the road noise has become very loud, and pitched at annoying frequency and droning up to about 80kph - that speed has been increasing as they wear. What is really strange to me is that I have the same tyre (different size) on my 100 series Landcruiser, also about half worn (and I've had two previous sets for their full life) and they make no discernible noise at all. I've rotated the tyres and run them in the reverse direction with no change. The wear appears even with no scuffing.
Is it something about the Jeep and its NVH quality?
Does any one else have the same issue, with these or other tyres? I really like these tyres for there off-road performance an durability, but will change to D297's or similar next time. Any comments on tyre lies for these?
Thanks,
Russell

Monocoque, IFS, IRS and a very minimal distance between the source of the noise and the bodywork are all contributors in my opinion. However bear in mind that tyre noise, and its offensiveness to the ear, will vary between tyres of the same pattern when in compared in different sizes.

Cheers,
Steve
