Mate I was very close to getting a set of the Bridgestones but ended up with Hankook ATM RF10 All Terrains and now looking to get a set of Muddies to go on my spare set of 18s.

Love the ATM RF10, very close to the driving smoothness of the D697s.

Re: Off Road 18"s

How do you find the noise level and comfort of the rf10's, snake?
Are you running 275 or standard 265 widths?

Got any pics?

No pics sorry, the car is dirty from all the rain! The older WK2 in this video has Dynapro All Terrains in the same size:

Size is LT275/65R18.

Compared to the KL21 on 20 inch rims, its not as smooth or comfortable or quiet, but it's not far off. I honestly doubt anyone would complain. The non LT version would be smoother of course.

Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10: 73 db

Estimating that the KL21 are like the regular road tyres and about 71db, so the Hankooks are louder but you are starting from a very quiet base.

Compared to the ST MAXX in the same size its night and day.

With the Dynapro RF10s, If you didn't tell someone they were AT and they didn't get a good look, you wouldn't know it, they have great grip in the wet and dry - at least when new. I actually forgot the car could corner that fast.

With Tyres you tend to find people have differing opinions but I honestly couldn't find someone complaining about the RF10s.

Isn't that suppose to clean the car?

Thanks for the update, snake.
I agree with the last statement, I haven't read one bad review on them.

I just love the way the Jeep does it despite the independent suspension. Wheels up in the air and still it finds traction.

Re: Off Road 18"s

It's Jeep's undocumented AirTraction feature.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Just noticed that Cooper AT3 now come in an LT construction. I saw and ad in the Land Rover club magazine. I have Coopers and have got nearly 90,000 out of them, so these new LT tyres will be on my shopping list when it comes time for replacement (which is probably before xmas holidays).

A/T3 - Cooper Tires

Good to know. Not having LT's way always a turn-off for me despite their off-road hype. The next issue is size.

Re: Off Road 18"s

They are the correct size - 265/60/18.

yep, as posted elsewhere:

Looks like LT off road tyre choice in the OEM 18 inch size has opened up now with Coopers doing their range (AT3 available in either LT or P) AT3, ST Maxx, STT PRO available in LT in the 265/60R18 size.

Re: Off Road 18"s

After much researching and reading here I finally needed to re-shoe the Jeep. After reading about the new Kumho AT51 having final testing out at Broken Hill & surrounds I decided to go for it. I wanted to run with the LT275 65 18's so would need 5 or a smaller spare which I wasn't keen to do as I run out to Broken Hill way a number of times a year.
I have recently returned from the 4K approx. round trip - lots of it on the blacktop of course but also on dirt as I followed the Darling route to Bourke (awesome drive by the way) over to Texas ,skirting Sundown NP and then up the Mt Lindsay Rd (unsealed & sealed) to the Border ranges onto the Gold Coast.
The tyres were outstanding , could hardly tell the difference to worn originals on the highway even when pushing harder to get past trucks etc.
On the dirt return trip I left them at 40psi as I haven't got the air compressor as yet.
A little skittish at speed on the rougher/dodgier sections but otherwise faultless.
Would have been more comfortable with 20% less air.
The happy surprise for me was the fact that I was able to put the spare on an original alloy rim in the boot. Was not expecting that after reading all reports. I put the new tyres on the Jeep Black Night Fever(??) rims - chance internet grab at $890 for 4.
Therefore had the spare rim. Admittedly it must be rightside up and the flooring doesn't quite close. I've strapped the panel down using the tie down points back to front. Fridge sits on the right side. That way the tyre doesn't jump around as the original hold bolt is too short- might look at extending the bolt as it would be better over the rough stuff.
Here are some pics although tricky with high contrast white & black.
Thanks for all the past info guys and hope this helps some future decision making. At $329 a corner well worth being on the comparison list.
cheers, Guy

Be careful! In the USA at least, Kumho sell the AT51 in both P275/65R18 and LT275/65R18 constructions, see ROAD VENTURE AT51 - Kumho Tire USA, Inc. . The Aussie Kumho site doesn't nominate the construction type. Apparently we are too dumb to know the difference. So, if you think you are paying for LT's, make sure you see the "LT" on the tyre size descriptor.
