Your wheels look great! What are they? For God's sake don't scratch them up the Ranges.

I can hear the D697's on the highway but what the hell, it's a diesel fourbie with LT tyres, not a Barina.
Thanks Bob, yep pretty happy with the rims. They are Mullins 'Raptors', apparently only just released in last week or so for JGC. The full range can be viewed on the Mullins Wheels website. While not looking to trash the rims, I did buy them for off road work and I figured I'd rather scratch/dent a $230 rim rather than the Mopar offerings at over $500 a piece. I'm pleasantly surprised at the levels of road noise at highway speeds, definitely improved the ride over the 20" rims when it comes to any imperfections/joins etc on the bitumen.

Only downside are the smart a#*! comments about the Jeep being perfect for Walter White or some Columbian cartel bus.

Matty,

I got the 4 TPMS sensors on Ebay from the 'wheel_man'. Same part # as what any Aust dealer will sell you over the counter, except you are saving around $300. For the MY14 JGC you want Manufacturer Part Number 56029398AB (Factory OEM) Just saw Steve has posted the link.
Really helpful to deal with and got the items to South Aust in a week.

Re: Off Road 18"s

I still working out whats what and what to use for sizing 265/60r18, i had run coopers all my life on my 4wd and loved them. Last set was AT3's on pajero and got 60k and had about 8-10 k left.
Prices local,imcludimg fitting...
Cooper at3 $ 415
Bridgestone d697 $458
Cooper st maxx $535

I have been doind research and the coopers at3 come out on top of allot ofr reviews, my issue is that they dont do a light truck in that size ast he st maxx do.
I also seen the following i want more info and prices on to comsider
Nexen roadian atx
Maxtrek su800
Goodyear wrangler a/t adventure with kevlar
Toyo versado cuv
Nitto dure grappler

Any one used those before, details on those brands?

Cheers Brenden

Re: Off Road 18"s

The AT3s come in LT275/65R18, and they seem to fit.

I didn't know the STMaxx was available in 265/60R18, I've ordered 275/65R18s at $490 each.

The Nitto Dura Grappler is a highway terrain tyre, the Terra Grappler is the AT. Apparently there are none in the country in LT275/65R18.

I was considering the AT3, but I think the Hankook ATM is more bang for buck.

Re: Off Road 18"s

I think it should be qualified that while 275/65R18 fit, there are some flow on effects not everyone will want to entertain.

- Proximity to guard liners.
- Different diameter to OEM spare.
- Fuel consumption decrease (even when km compensated).
- I'm sure there's some others I've forgotten... perhaps on purpose

That said, I love putting on mine! They make the car look "chunky", to quote the tyre fitter.

Cheers,
Steve

Yep, the Maxx LT275/65R18 are new to Oz. Only just started coming in, but have been available in that size in the US for some time, that's what I've ordered. I'm not aware they are made at all in 60 series profile on an 18 rim size. They do for a 17" rim, I think?

Point is that if you want an LT, and you are considering a 275/65R18, then the Cooper AT3 does come that size in an LT. Same story with the Dynapro....

I prefer the word "chunky" too or sometimes "knobbly" but I hate the way Americans call it "aggressive". What's with that? A tyre can't be aggressive. A driver can be aggressive but not a tyre. Maybe is it's a kind of image transfer thing

Re: Off Road 18"s

I think it refers to the effect on the earth if you spin it up against the ground :what:

It's kinda hard to avoid using it to describe a tread pattern, but I get where you're coming from Bob. Maybe "high traction" or "dirt traction" would be more relevant and accurate?

Ciao!
Steve

Ive got a set of the Nexen Roadian ATX on my Hilux, good price point, but wouldn't get them again. They tend to bulge sidewalls extremely easily. Had 3 so far, 1 did it with no off road work, and when I quizzed the rep, he distanced himself from any fault in the tyre.... had AT3's before, and hard to fault.

Re: Off Road 18"s

Thanks All

Yeah I think I will be going with the ST MAXX for the light truck construction as want those better side walls as well for offload and dirt road driving it is really a shame on the price. I have found some great tires on Tire rack in the US but have to work out freight as they like 180-220 each. Better than $550 each

cheer

Be aware that you won't get the exact size in the Coopers. You'll have to go for 275/65R18.
