Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

Matty,
Although I wish your car was with the others on the TYSLA, fact is, the chances of the car arriving in Sept are extremely slim. Have a look at the guesstimates earlier on the timeframes.
If you need a car in Sept, you should not waste time playing tiddly winks with the dealer. He knows way less than you do. Tell them what you already know, that is that the car failed QI and is sitting in the Livermore Facility awaiting someone to rectify.
Get them to start sourcing a replacement. There may well be unsold stock on the TYSLA, which you may be able to get providing the dealership acts fast.

OK, just for clarification.
What is it that PrixCar has the car for?
Do all cars go there prior to being delivered to the dealer?

My dealer has quoted approx 2 days at the dealership for pre-delivery.

Just need to be armed with all the facts as I will pay a visit to my dealer tomorrow for a chat.

Cheers,
Matty.

BTW, I also have a car broker on the hunt for me too. Waiting to hear back from him.

Hey Matty,
Prixcars handle customs, quarrantine, compliance certs etc. This means less time at the dealers facility. A couple of days or so at the dealers is about right after Prixcars.

After the car arrives in Australia it has to pass quarantine. A lot of the shipments have been held up for several weeks due to being quarantined because of airborne grass seeds adhering to the protective film.

After being released from quarantine, they go to prixcars for initial inspection, affixing of compliance plate and initial per delivery checks and preparation. That can take up to one or two weeks - they do thousands of cars - all the imports, not just Jeep.

Mine took about a month to clear quarantine and prixcars. Once released from prixcars, the vehicle is transported to the dealer for fitting of any accessories and pre-delivery detailing. That should only take a couple of days.

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

The process is this.
SAhip berths, and unloads cars. Prioxcars the trailer the car to their yard.
Prixcars are the agents for Quarantine and Customs, so they handle the paperwortk and pay the fees on behalf of Jeep Aust.
Prixcars also do the cleanup if Quarantine require it and do software upgrades.
Prixcars then ship to the dealer.
Prixcfars can take a minimum of 7 days to 30 days to do their bit.
Once the car gets to the dealers, the accessories and cleanup get done.
All up, 10-30 days.

Are you sure that Prixcars do the quarantine? I know they are customs agents but i would have thought quarantine would be a seperate issue. When my JGC was held up with AQIS, I spoke to AQIS at Port Kembla, and they told me they were examining the cars and they hadn't been released to Prixcars. It was a good fortnight before the car was released to Prixcars. Maybe it's a paper transfer within the Port Kembla facility, but I was under the impression that when it passed quarantine it was transported to Prixcars at Minto.

Prixcars Brisbane is the same holding yard. The car is offloaded and all inspections and compliances are done at the same time. Can't speak for other States.

Tracking still shows it in storage/Livernois, since July 27th, with no ETA for leaving Detroit. Sorry I don't have more/better info for ya...

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

Thanks Milous.
This just cements my decision to go into my dealer this week and put them on the spot to find me another one.

Cheers,
Matty

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

It's finally on the move.
Went to my dealer yesterday and pretty much told them that it can't and won't be delivered by their scheduled date.
I've requested them to find out exactly what the issue(s) were with the car. Whether Jeep divulge that info is another question.

By my calculations it should be ready for delivery around 5th October, fingers crossed..

Hi Matty,

Are you after Mineral Grey CRD Overland 2012. I found one at James Frizelles on the gold coast. It is turning up there in the next week or so from what i have been told. I was going to have a look at it if i could change over my current car. But could not get a buyer so quickly for it. It has not been sold and im sure they would be happy to sell it to you if you want it. PM me if you like and i will let you know what they quoted me for the car. I thought it was a great price.
