Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

Well it appears that mine has fallen into a black hole somewhere.
It departed Livernois Vehicle Developments on the 14th but hasn't been received in anywhere else, 6 days hiding it somewhere maybe??

I'm over this, Friday is D-day..

Just checked, no updates since 14th, I'll keep a close eye on it this week...

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

I ordered my Overland in May as well, dealer indicated 5 months delivery and informed me last week it was on the boat and would arrive in Oz in about two weeks, (that would make it next week sometime), and we should be able to take delivery about two weeks after arrival, making it early to mid September.
At the time of ordering, the dealer told me the build would not commence until late July or after as the plant closes for summer break. Not sure if this is the case. I assume the dealer knows what they are talking about.
One poster indicated if ordered in May it would be an MY13 build. How do you figure that?

Correct..
Order banks open: June 5, 2012

Production start (except SRT): June 30, 2012

Production start SRT: July 10, 2012

Production end: January 2013

Sales launch: September 1, 2012
I have been tracking mine and have the build sheet. The VIN indicates it is an MY13. It was built on 6th July.

You should become a contributing member, get tracking as well as an invaluable build sheet, which will tell you all the components of your car.
These are very useful, especially if they stuff up and install the wrong upholstery of even the wrong colour paint.

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

Finally bit the bullet...
I bought another MG Overland diesel.
This one is already in Australia and although it is an MY12, not a 13 like my ordered one, it was only built a month before mine, so last of the MY12 builds.
Ended up buying it from the Gold Coast (big thanks to geokep on this forum for notifying me of its existance..)

Will be trucked down mid to late next week, so hopefully have it by the end of next week or early the week after.

/just gotta tell my original dealer now........

Well doen Matty,
Glad you got one that was already here. Being dicked around must really have put a downer on the whole experience.

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

Good for you Matty!

Question: Is your Gold Coast dealer looking after Victorian rego?

The reason I ask is I bought mine from Sydney but as it was to be Queensland registered I could not include the Queensland onroads (rego, stamp duty etc) as part of the contract.

I arranged transport Sydney-Brisbane and had to register it up here myself which was a bit of doing at Queensland Transport. I lobbed up at the local QT suburban office thinking it was a simply task but nothing in Govt is simple. They had to eyeball the VIN themselves to prove the car was as stated on all doc's.

To do this I had to locate the VIN . I called the Sydney dealer to point me in the right direction but they had no idea where it was as the CRD was fairly new to the Aussie market. The QT employee was fine but she did not want to get dirty.

So, with torch and mirror in hand I pumped up the QL and slid under looking for a VIN. I also memorised the last 6-7 digits just in case! After a bit of searching I finally found it. But it was in an awkward position and there was no way she was going to sight it without getting dirty so she asked me to read it out, took my word for it, went back in the office, paid stamp duty and rego and I was legal on the road!

All in all it was a bit of mucking around but I would do it again and again it it saved a 3-6 month wait and being shagged around by local dealers who are leaning heavily on the great "Don't Look Back" ad campaign and not on customer service.

Anyhow, let us all know when you get it and if your experience in Victoria is similar to mine up here in Queensland.

How did you get on with the original dealer??

I did pretty much the same thing when I got the runaround from my original dealer and the sales manager hit the roof when I told him what I had done. He threatened all sorts of things......this was after 3 months of me asking for a delivery date and getting nothing and warning him a week before that I intended sourcing one elsewhere.

Just interested to see if it was just my dealer or Jeep dealers in general.

Re: Opinions needed - thinking of cancelling order

I'm looking after the rego side of things here myself.
The price I paid to the dealer was less stamps and on road costs for QLD.

I'll have to take it to Vicroads for an inspection but last year I bought a 2nd hand car unregistered interstate and took it to them and they took one look at the car and handed me the plates, no questions asked. Was there a total of 30 mins max.
Hoping this will be the same.

My only real drama is I have to get across the city to pick it up, somehow...
