Other drivers keep thinking my lights are to bright

Since new, other drivers keep flashing their high beam lights at me during the night. On a single road, cars after cars keep indicating that my headlamps must be high or something. So I keep flashing my high beams back to indicate I don't have my high beam lights on...

Do you get anyone else telling you your headlights are too bright or blinding?

I'm certain these lights initially when turned on, I can see their self adjust as the ray goes up, down and settle somewhere in between(I can see from when I turn on the car, looking at my garage wall).

Wk2 2012 limited his stock.

Re: Other drivers keep thinking my lights are to bright

its VERY simple......just adjust your lamps manually. Each lamp has a manual adjustment screw....just pull up to your garage door or wall and use the adjustment screw to aim the beams down just a hair.

Re: Other drivers keep thinking my lights are to bright

Go crazy, follow this guide

Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

I made sure to check this when we picked it up on Friday, I drove in front of the GC and had no concerns with being blinded from behind, the angle seemed very normal, in fact less blinding than a lot of cars.

One common setting I found was to have lights on of course, drive up to a wall as close as possible, mark the point on the wall that is level with the headlights centre point.
Reverse 10m (have this measured out), and the lights should now be 10cm below that point, if you wish to be super cautious, then set them at 15cm below that original mark.

This a clear video about correct height, it should jump to 6 mins 35 seconds

Re: Other drivers keep thinking my lights are to bright

I've had to adjust mine down too because of constant flashing from oncoming vehicles.

Not mentioned so far in this thread but it is easier to do the adjustment on 'low' beam. The flat top pattern of the beam is easier to work with. I measured to the centre of the headlamp lens and marked the garage wall accordingly. I then adjusted the lights so the top of the low beam was lower than the centre height marked on the wall. Roughly 25mm lower with the vehicle 4 metres away.

I haven't been flashed since I did the adjustment three months ago.

Re: Other drivers keep thinking my lights are to bright

The car will be under warranty, so mention it at first service and get them adjusted properly. Looks like they were not setup correctly.
