You mean to say Aussies use the e brake ? I'm trying to remember the last time I used one...I think it was 1991-92 using it as "4 wheel steering" in a VW Rabbit while driving on a frozen lake

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

I find it harder to modulate release of the e - brake pressure as you start to accelerate up the ramp. Maybe three feet would help.

I was brave enough to try the "hill hold" with a total of 5 tonne inclined 30 degrees. Works perfectly. Foot on brake, Put it in drive, release the e-brake (quick prayer) foot cautiously off the brake and onto the accelerator, finally a a gentle climb up the ramp. No sign of it wanting to roll backwards. (I too would prefer the thrid foot like you say but all the same, hill hold works fine)

Smile Re: Our Overland has arrived in Fremantle!

Well, we have had our '13 Overland for a few weeks now, all good so far. Here is a pic from the first day.

Last weekend we finally had the opportunity to take the vehicle off-road, testing it on a variety of surfaces - rocky trail, sand and bulldust. The Jeep sailed through, hardly troubled. The only concern came when I dared to shift out of Auto into Sand mode, when I immediately got the SERV 4WD error and the lost traction logo came up. Turning the car on and off made the message go away fortunately. Other two pics are from the trails near Bindoon.

I have concerns about the Navigation system too, with it failing to route via unverified roads. My $199 Tom Tom does a better job. I will bring up both issues at the 1000 km service.

Thanks Noons, the area pictured is in Western Australia, just north of Perth. For us summer has just ended and the area is quite dry.

Sorry Noons, I couldn't tell that you were local. The area is the Conservation Reserve off Julimar Road in Chittering. We were headed for the Avon River national park, but it was closed due to fire threat.

Bummer! What happened to delay delivery for that long? Still, only two sleeps to go now. I'm sure you will love it.

Re: Our Overland has arrived in Fremantle!

Who knows where it went or even if it was on that ship. The dealer is John Hughes who has been great lending me a car for the last six weeks, apparently the problem is prixcars who do the compliance but even that you wouldn't know. In the end all that is sure is that it has been missing for two months and that I will get it tonight.
